Description A quick attempt at a smooth walking animation just for giggles.

I've (hopefully) added the source file properly so people can download it and pull apart the file to see how it's all put together

EDIT: Scrap that, it didn't work If anyone knows how to attach the .fla file, please let me know.

I think you would need to zip the file in order to add the .fla

you should upload .fla file to some server somthing like dropbox or rapidshare and link past to the description .. btw its nice loop but shoes looks bit unnatural ... they should squiz somhow when he walk ..you can try bone tool for that effect

Cool character :-D I'm just learning to animate myself, look up Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams, AMAZING resource for any level of animator. DVDs are tops, you find some snippets on YouTube, search fro Richard Williams walk cycle.

I think you've lost a sense of weight to your character, when you get to the "passing" position and step off the head naturally goes up. So basically do the opposite of what you've animated for the body and head as of now. Thing of a guy with massive guts and and gravity, steps down, guts wobble up, step up, guts wobble down.

Also with your arms, try messing with ease in/out in Flash, it's option there somewhere in tweening. This takes over where traditional animators put in more or less frames for spacing (not timing). Basically get the arms to hold for longer at the top of arcs and let it swing down gently to build up speed, that'll give him a more "cruisy" gait to his walk.

Working with perspective is important too. In this case, scale the right leg and arm to make it a bit smaller, real tiny bit, not heaps. Simply because they are a little further away than the left arm/leg.

Last thing I say is with the left leg, it bends further and from what I can tell travels just a little longer than right - but that might just be me :-D

since flash animation already needs a different preview and swf file to play the animation, so a third file needs to be uploaded elsewhere and you can paste the link in the description as someone already mentioned. Great work btw

you can use a file hoster (for e.g. file-upload.net) to upload your .fla to und just put the link in the description.

You've got a good impact on the left leg when he steps, but its missing from the right. Makes it feel kinda loose. Otherwise, looks great.

Nice! Although if i can make one suggestion...

Adding a shadow would help him feel more grounded and less floaty
