I wonder how the world would have turned out had he survived and seen his vision realised. He was a power hungry man with monarchy in mind, for sure. But he was also a man of the people, a fair and honest man too. A pretty rare thing in those times, since most Roman Politicians were cruel, as this drawing displays lol.

Ramblings aside, great job on the drawing! Love it

Definitely something to ponder, I've always wondered that ever since I learned about Caesar and the Ides.

Great drawing. Caesar is definitely my favourite figure of ancient history. I'm currently working on a novel based on the last century of the Roman Republic, with Caesar being the main focus. I'll need to keep an image like this in mind! I hope to make a large painting of Caesar's assassination one day.

Cowards, but at least politicians back then had some balls.

Very interesting work.

That's such a neat perspective! And your contrast almost makes them look like they're made of stone! Good work!

Wao! this is great! love the detailed skill, but i must say, there are only 7 people stabbing caesar when there were eight conspiritors.

There were roughly 60 or more assassins actually

your drawing has captured the desperation that accompanied G. Iulius Caesar's demise. The conspirators aw themselves as righteous upholders of the republic, but in the end they had slain an unarmed man as he was carrying out his duties to the Roman people (as he was, as you know, in Pompey's theatre signing documents).

As a lover of Roman history, I can say that your drawing (and the screenshot it was based on) has captured the spirit of the assassination marvelously. Thank you for sharing your work.

I completely agree, Caesar was an unarmed man at the time of his assassination and a good man of the people. If you were to read his accounts of the civil war and the Gaulic wars, Caesar always had the people in mind. Heck his whole fighting strategy revolves around keeping as many of his men alive and unharmed as possible. Good man if you ask me. 😊
