I made this to be a component of a larger picture, but I put so much time into it I might as well upload it on its own too.

Pretty obvious where most of this came from, just outright tracing the existing picture. It was surprisingly hard to find any decent versions of it, though, since the version in the opening sequence is distorted.

Anyway, Spike needed to be in the picture too. Plus I gave Twilight her legs back, so no Twiworm today. It also seemed like Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle's tails should be visible, even though they weren't in the original.

Vectors are so freaking slow to make. There's like 532 objects in this, and each of those takes its own careful tweaking. I didn't really time it, but each character took something like two hours. Sort of feels like I'm getting slower, if anything. Even ended up missing the deadline to finish the larger picture this is a part of for the training grounds alumni theme this week.

Now that I think about it, this is the first time I've made vectors of full characters based on official images. Except for the Flutterrage face, which was just an expression anyway, every vector I've made has been my own content, usually from a pencil drawing. Kinda funny it took like two months before my first real traced vector.

A month after I first posted this, I'm kind of amazed at how much I've seen this picture around. It was used in four different entries for that DVD cover contest a little while back; it's at the top of the canterlot.net Summer Sun Celebration convention website, and I've seen at least one wallpaper that used it. Kinda fun to see something I made getting put to so much use. And there might be more I don't know about.
