Description
First attempt at an arabesque design (I think that's what it's called anyways). It was alot of fun.Maybe i'll make a larger and more complicated one next time (Ram permitting

This is a very complex and interesting piece of knotwork. You can get lost in it, in a very good way, and the teardrop accents you have between the "X" portions really adds a welcome bit of whimsical texture. Keep up the very good work!

This is incredible. My only criticism is that the white woven part looks very plain in contrast to the background spirals. But it's otherwise amazing.

Yeah. The idea at the time was that the details in the gaps were just to keep it from seeming blank. I think I have better ways of doing that now though.

I thought about adding color, but decided against it since I couldn't think of a good scheme.

OMG... kinda breathtaking! This must have taken *some* time to finish, huh...?
So, "arabesque" you say... do you know anything else, like it's origin, if it's cultural symolism, etc...?! -Since I'm very into tribal-tattoos & various symbols, I just got interested in knowing more!!

I've read various stuff about what exactly it is, and I think it's used generally for artwork comprised of interweaving lines laid over a background. But i'm not sure, since i've also heard it used for a very specific artform used in Islam, called Zakhrafa, or something like that.
You'd have to look it up for yourself

Hmm... that was informative enough for me - thanks for sharing the info, and BIG thanks for sharing such beautiful artwork!!
-I'll probably try this kind of stuff myself, sometime in the future...

It's also fairly easy. A little time consuming, but easy. Or maybe it'd be better to say it's 'simple'
I'm sure you could do something like it if you tried.
