Description Fire-whip crack of
The Impulse.
(I have always felt
restless.)
All my molecules
forever shifting,
even when resting.
Ghost clinging to
the edge of the desk,
the footprint dance
across the floorboards,
brilliantly wandering,
shaking the room with
a silent loud, a crooked
crackling presence.
Words and color shuffling
or capturing souls.
Feeling unworldly –
the copper eyed tourist
only here for fixed moments
on borrowed clock-hands,
in burrowed chapters, with
a wrap of camouflage skin.
The elephant squirming,
squeezing in.

Because if it is not war,
it is art and ardor
and the impeccable
fear, frantically washing
out and over me like
white foam shampoo.
(Because there is so
much more to do.)

No matter the lullaby,
the cooed sedative,
or the tragic emptying
of the coffee cupboard,

I will always be the
stirring sea storm
and whiplash, electrified
and terrified while laughing

as we ride and hijack
this elevator to my funeral.

Wow. This was really awesome. The whole time I got a feeling of an empty presence...it is hard to describe exactly...something that simultaneously is and isn't. A passing feeling of being watched, a whisper that is barely heard... idk, I can't describe it well, but you wrote this so I'm sure you know what I'm going for, haha. Very well done. I love the rhythm of it, too. It skips around chaotically, but also gives a feeling of lightness...like a child thrown into an adult world, being overwhelmed but maintaining a childish view of it all. I may have missed the mark entirely, but I really like it, and the mood that it fills me with. Another great piece!

It is very much a presence that is & isn't. More that childhood, I was hoping to capture an erratic, constant energy, but I suppose that is exactly what I child is. When most of us grow older, we become more languid... less excited.

Thanks for your feedback!
