Description

Ikati slowly came to himself as they ran further away.

Besides the difficulty to feel his limbs and the burning in his lungs as he tried to learn to breathe again, he felt slightly embarrassed.
How could he have let himself get so lost in distant memories that they turned on him? Maybe if he wasn't reminiscing about that specific lifetime he wouldn't have been thrown back into the child that was once chased by wolves. Wouldn't have reacted so... strongly.
Pathetically.

Lee grabbed at his arm as he stopped their run, Ikati's legs glad for the stop in movement but still itching with anxiety to keep running. Maybe that was just his brain telling him he needs to run to survive though.
He blinked dazedly at Lee as the other teen anxiously grabbed at his arms and shoulders, paws feeling for any injury as his eyes intensely took in his face. In any other circumstance Ikati would've flushed at the close inspection, maybe looked away and tell him off, but right now all he could do was stare back.

"Are you okay? What the hell was wrong with that kid?!" Lee sounded fearful but his words seemed angry. It was kind of funny, the difference. "You're alright, yeah? No injuries, they didn't hurt you bad did they?"
It took too long for him to answer, Lee's paws moving to grab onto his shoulders with a squeeze. He kind of wished they were on his face. "Ikati, are you okay? Are you hearing me?"

He opened and closed his mouth. He's never been this close to Lee's face, especially to see an expression like this.
Eventually he gasped out a, "Yeah, I'm fine..!"
He breathed heavily as Lee asked him more questions, some he could answer and others he couldn't. Some he didn't really want to.
He didn't say anything either way, Lee going on and on without taking a breath until he finally stopped at one. "Did you know what that was about?"

Ikati's lungs didn't burn anymore, and his throat didnt feel so acidic as before. It would've made him feel worse if something actually came back up.
"No... they just attacked..." He just realized he'd been clinging to Lee as well throughout this entire moment of rest, but he couldn't bring himself to let go so quickly. "M.. Maybe someone at the Grove knows... Y'can ask around..."

Lee frowned slightly but nodded, both of them knowing that Lee was the one who had to ask. Ikati would rather let it be a mystery than try and talk to anyone of higher status in that place, even if its become somewhere familiar for them.

The silver teen turned to look behind them, a complicated expression on his face. Ikati couldn't bother to try and understand what it was, letting himself crumple inward and hiss at the aches slowly making themselves known in his body.
It felt terrible, he truly pushed himself past what this body was capable of. Sure, his previous selves were still capable of aches and pains of exertion, but nothing like this. The bottom of his paws were burning and a dull consistent ache ran through the muscles of his limbs. He could feel gravity pulling down on every part of him, the impulsive part of his brain begging him to just stop and go with what gravity wanted. Instead he clutched at his chest with a hiss at still healing scrapes stinging with every movement. He realizes now the cold feeling of something wet along his body was something close to ink dripping out of somewhere on his back, probably those black stars that appeared there recently.
Maybe for the best, since he now realizes they're what knocked that kit off when he was too slow to take his escape.
An aggrieved sigh is what made him notice a deeper and warmer sting to the side of his torso, but Lee was already getting up and ushering him up on his back legs.
"Come on. They're far, but we shouldn't stay here any longer."

Some stumbling and grappling, and the two were finally slowly making their way back to the Grove. Arm slung over Lee's shoulders and Lee's tucked firmly around him to keep him close as they walked ahead, Ikati almost wanted to laugh at the silly picture they must paint.
What a funny moment for him to remember he was human more times than he was animal.
It was better than thinking about the bite on his side.

Hopefully, it would just be a bite.

He didn't want to think about the fact it's taking slower to disappear than his scrapes.
