Before I begin this, I just wanted to mention what a remarkable piece of artwork this is! The character's eyes are a wonderful focus and have really captured the piece and brought it all together.
Some improvements that I suggest:
1.) Contrast,
You have quite a bit of contrast already by the colors of the character and the background and such, However, the issue is less focused around the colors and more about the shading. The shading does look appropriately placed according to the light source, which is fantastic. However, in my perspective the shading is not dark enough. For example around the hooves seem to blend in with the body, and a simple darker shading would fix the issue!
2.) Detail
There are some iconic details in this piece, such as the speckles on her face and hooves, the amazing details in the eyes. However, I believe the sheets and pillow need just as much attention perhaps.
Also, I know the mistletoe is supposed to be blurred, but I think adding a little more color to that line art would surely make it pop!
3.) Anatomy of the Ear
This could just be a preference in style, but I had a sense that the ear needed to be just slightly bigger. Small ears are still adorable though! The fluffy parts are my favorite.
Keep doing this!!!:
1.) Lighting
The lighting by the mistletoe has really stood out to me, wonderful job creating that washed out, bright look. Adding in a bokeh effect would be really awesome too!
2.) Pose
The pose in this piece is absolutely adorable, the way she was looking up and how she is slightly slanted really creates a more interesting composition as per se would she have been just straight in the middle of the canvas. 3.) Background
I know it can sometimes be tricky and/or ambitious to play around with backgrounds, but I loved how it turned out! You kept in mind how the pony would look like if she was in the environment you placed her into, such as creases in the bed sheets and such. Well done!
