Description
This is the first piece that awakened my creative mind to visual art and creative artistry in general. It is a rendering of a three point perspective tower complex composed of many blocks. I had done the original a time back in high school drafting class. Then I carried this image into a "learn to draw what you see" class in college focusing on light and shade. The images were displayed on the wall for all to see.......and take! No one else's just mine! bummer. And this is the piece that started my obsessive creative frenzy. enjoy!dimensions - 11" X 17"
medium - graphite/charcoal on paper

I really like the angles and form of the structure.
The style of the shading is also very good.
Nice work, though I think the background pattern might be a bit intense.

Yeah, this is seriously a beautiful piece. You've obviously worked hard on it. I mean, the perspective is great, but the light and shadow are the real star here. Great art!

Awesome piece. I love the range of shadows and highlights. Looks like some very tall buildings indeed. Is M.C. Escher that guy that does those crazy perspective pieces? With like weirdo staircases? I remember one particular piece with water in it and a...what do you call it... water wheel? .

Reminds me of a lot of classic drawing. The angle is great, gives a good feeling of the height of the structure. I love the contrasts in the piece, between cubism and fluid background and the lights and darks. The highlights near the bottom of the structure are very excellent, they really shine.
Glad that you go so inspired, its a great feeling.

What a greately beautiful compositions. I love the union with these organic backgrounds and the weird perspective. A nice one to do a study on ^^
It is awesome, how some people are able to abstract issues like 'industrialism' and let everybody FEEL, what they want to express.
a great job.

Indeed, I've always said, do never throw away an unfinished piece of art, it might be useful in the future, and it proved to be true many many times.
Indeed the structuring and shadowing are amazing, there is also a feeling like I sense the air in the down areas...I don't know how to explain but it's like I see the movement of air...well I'll just shut up
I personally only dislike the background, which just doesn't seem to fit, I would have seen a simpler background fit better, this one distracts first from the tower and secondly just is the opposite of it...I don't know it just isn't made to be there in my opinion, but that's just me
Anyway, this deserves a favorite

the sky is nuts... looks like something i drew on the back of a binder... but the perspective is great. It's really hard to keep perspective aligned and perfect when you draw so many things into a perspective drawing. But two point perspective is alot easier that one point...
Good JOB!

This is awesome. Incredible atmosphere. I was totally down in the dumps yesterday after going through some computer graphics magazines, and I felt like a fossil, only being able to draw traditionally. You're the little light in the tunnel that says: Up yours, computers! Traditional art is still alive and kicking!

After reading this, I had a little laugh. I used to think traditional art methods in design were dead, but I was sorely wrong. It's alive and well, stronger today than it has been since computers have been around. The most recent issue of Print magazine is raving about "organic" type, aka hand-drawn stuff as the new "in" thing.

Awesome, really like the perspective, almost cubist. Great linework and shading. Dig how the twisty, ether-like background contrasts with the straight edges of the constructs. Great work, keep it up!

My first instinct upon seeing this image was to do a page search for the word escher (there were 3 mentions before now ). And I tihnk it's fairly justified, though your background makes it unique by moving away from his prominant use of mostly sterile geometrics and combining more organic forms. Peachy keen.
