I'd say Eclipse should've been its own website.

The ideas for it are great but it changes the main site far too much, especially since the main site is already good enough on its own.

Unlike most users, deviantart is one of the only social media im allowed to use. If I had other social media sites it would be as simple as just leaving deviantart, but I dont want to i cant, its my primary source of inspartion. So seeing the crappy 'new deviantart' worries me. They have taken away so many new features, it slow and my computer's old, buggy, I usally like using a light theme but it's impossible to use on eclipse, its simply too bright. I get that deviantart try to be all modern but this is not the way to go. I hope they make some drastic fixes to eclipse.

It’s hard to like something that makes your character refs with transparent backgrounds look like garbage, gives you an error message, and makes your profile look worse than it already is...

I don’t want Eclipse. It’s just so much worse...

Well, you've already seen my complaint about prominent they made the "Scraps" folder in people's galleries now XD. 

But yeah... while I'm not sure I HATE Eclipse, I at the very least "dislike" it XD.

Blegh... I'm all for change, but I'm having a really hard time liking Eclipse. I feel like by "simplifying" the site like they did, they have taken away a lot of the overview but also personality of the website. Like for example, the Eclipse notifications inbox is a downright mess that needs way too many clicks and loading to function fast and properly. 

Also, looking at my Eclipse profile makes me cringe. DA Eclipse promises to focus solely on ART, however the thumbnails and artworks are SO blown up and in-your-face that it kind of loses all attraction. Not to speak of the size increase of icons (including group icons), so that everything now looks terribly blurred, distorted, and stretched. 

The white and black themes of Eclipse hurt the eyes. Things are too bright in the light version, and too dark in the black version. If they could give us an in-between version, like the greygreen one we have now, or even just plain grey, I would be happy, and comments would stand out a bit more. 

Overall, I really want to like Eclipse, I truly want to, but to be honest I'm already looking at other platforms such as Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram to move to, because I can already see a lot of people going to leave DA over these changes.

it feels.. diffrent. i cant even figure it out. its a confusing layout and not really enjoyable. i like the layout of the current old version better then eclepsi. i feel i can get lsot in whats my page and whats not

To be honest, I’ve been here for pretty much eons and this website... has been very up and down for me. Sure it’s a nice way to show off your art and have everyone see it and give credit but it always feels like Deviantart pushes the top tier artists on their page to show that they are “the best art page ever.” While leaving younger and smaller artists who want to start their art career in their shadow. It reminds me of when big businesses use to do monopoly and drive smaller businesses to the ground so they wouldn’t have to work as hard and compete with anyone else and gain more money.


DeviantArt Eclipse... while I haven’t seen much of it just yet, it makes me a little... frightened. Change is good of course and I’m glad DeviantArt is trying to change their ways but I am afraid it won’t be a good change, seeing what bad shit DeviantArt has done and how much their admins don’t give a shit enough to correctly help a problem or correctly punish the wrongdoers, kinda like YouTube. I hope the DeviantART team does something right with Eclipse and make sure it’s fair for all and not for only a few types of people.

I can't believe I JUST joined this site three weeks ago, really started to feel like I had an online home here, and DA pulls this garbage There's some stuff here that I didn't know would be implemented in DA Eclipse and it just... eclipses so much of the positivity I've gained for this site. Blergh.

But I'll end up staying in the end. I hate every other social media site, and I write poetry, but none of the sites solely dedicated to poetry do it for me. I love interacting with artists of all walks of life. I love seeing what new art is gracing the front-page today. It keeps things fascinating and three-dimensional. And I love the system DA has in general. I know tons of people have problems with DA even now, but I can't think of anything that really upsets me. Well, okay, the Feedback notifications sometimes glitches, the screen just spazzes out, and I don't know if anyone else has that problem... But other than, I really like it here! 

And honestly, DA wants to be more "professional"? This coming from a site whose very NAME implies anything but? And I don't mean that negatively. Deviantart is like the art clubhouse of the internet. The moment it starts looking like Facebook or LinkedIn is the moment I puke.

...But I'll stay. Where else am I supposed to go? ._.

In my own opinion - i believe that DA is long overdue for an major update the one we currently have is decent to say the least not the best but its been here for a while and its beginning to get boring the same old thing
but even tho i believe that DA needs an update i don't believe that eclipse is the way to go.

 Why you ask ?.

Well its simple ,

DA is a sight that is about creativity and art of almost all forms people come here to post : Traditional art , Digital art,  Sculptures , Landscapes and so many more things.
The way DA currently is allows us to express ourselves in our own ways by decorating our page to our liking and sharing of what we believe is the best of our work , it's a way for people to get a more personal and in depth look at us as people and not just a stranger behind a screen uploading pictures the personalization of our pages makes people want to find more of our art and continue to follow these people and join them on there journey of development 

With this eclips everything about personalization is completely taken away and all you seemed to be left with is a blank portfolio bland and simple with almost no character other than the art that is displayed not being able to personalize your page alone completely throws pixel artist and artists that makes things for page decoration out of the picture completely and people who make them lose all money because they will no longer be a need for there work 

not only this but " DeviantArt Eclipse, described as 'the new DeviantArt' and setting out a vision for what's to come, including being able to 'present yourself...bigger, better and bolder'." this is just completely wrong because all this means is pushing smaller artist away and giving bigger artist more spotlight and they already have a lot yes i know bigger artist have worked there way up to the top but now DA is playing the favritizem game big time and it will be almost in possible for smaller artists to make there way up now  

DA for now is simple to use and can be fun when it comes to customization but DA seems to be leaning towards a too much simplistic page simplistic use to the point where it just seems downright boring the creators only seem to be after that quick dosh and to do so a lazy update to the entire website the could change hundreds of peoples views could be put in place 

its hard for me to say i have hope that because this is just the beta that it will be so much better once fully developed because the way it seems now is complete and utter cow dung

honestly i know DA needs a major upgrade and all which is something im looking forward to. However DA eclipse is pretty much..from what ive heard and seen screenshots of its really not good at all. while i am all up for a fresh new upgrade and start for DA to look pro and all..the whole idea of removing subfolders [correct me if im wrong on that] and also removing completely of Codes and CSS completely and even the customization boxes is just ridiculous. even removing widgets too :I

honestly they should of kept the whole customization alone and all even the widgets. plus i also think DA should seriously hear everyones feedback and take it seriously cause DA somewhat has a thing where they just dont listen to the issues sometimes... and also the whole layout design it reminds me not only Art station but also Weasle too [which is another Artist website] 

im trying to stay optimistic about it, but im growing pretty concerned about the whole ideas they got in mind. plus this can screw over a bit on pixel artists who do customization on codes and profile decore and so much more which sucks...im just hoping DA listens to the issues and our opinions on it. im not against DA having an upgrade but i do think they should give us an option on some wanting Eclipse layout but also fix major issues with it if peeps rather have the eclipse layout. and some stick with the regular DA layout with customizing. 

i dont know if it makes sense?

i made a journal listing many of the reasons people dislike eclipse and issues not addressed often that MUST be fixed!!
these include issues like the mature filter being TRANSPARENT, meaning even with a filter, people can still clearly see the innapropriate content; the direct coding being stolen from artstation and the company not bothering to do anything about it; the fact that it's not possible to nest, hide, or delete comments on your page or anywhere you previously had control over; and MANY more!

i see why people see potential in eclipse, but if they leave issues like that alone, that is irresponsible and opportunity for legal trouble..

As a beta tester, I tried it out and here are some of my own personal opinion

-It's a screw over for Pixel Artists
-You can't customize your page as much. Each page felt like people's home y'know and they all had some sort of story to tell.
-Notifications can be a little messy.
Personally, I like the theme they are going for. There are some good stuff there
But alot of people have been saying it's an exact copy of ArtStation.. I get DA is trying to be more professional but they also need to listen to alot of people's overall problems and feedbacks.
