Description
Leo lead Raph through the sewers. It had been raining hard for the past week, flooding part of the lair and ruining most of their mattress, pillows, and saturating their blankets. Splinter kept Donnie and Mikey back in the lair to to help remove the remaining water, while Leo and Raph went out for new pillows, blankets, and hopefully mattresses.

Leo looked at the map in his hands they were getting close to the dump, but he found another condemned tunnel. Raph huffed, “this is stupid, we can crawl through this!”

Leo shook his head, “we could get hurt, it’s unstable. Besides we will need to bring supplies back with us.

“Come on Leo! Stop being a Splinter Junior!” Raph started to climb through the crumbled tunnel.

Leo sighed placing the map in his backpack, and followed Raph.

“See almost there!” Raph announced.

Leo watched as Raph just slipped under the broken rocks. When Leo went to climb under he realized that his backpack and his carapace were too much to slip under. Leo tugged and tugged, but did not come free. Leo gave one more tug and he came free, but when he came free the little support that the tunnel had came crumbling down. Leo barely held onto the edge.

Hearing the crash Raph turned his head.
“Raaaaaaph,” Leo called out.

“Leo!” Raph yelled finding it impossible to turn around. Raph finally decided to crawl backwards so Leo could grab his foot. “Leo grab my foot!” Raph’s knees were digging into the rough surface. Raph could feel Leo’s hold on his ankle and dragged his brother forward.

Just was Leo was pulled free the rocks crumpled under the lack of support the two turtles went tumbling down. Raph landed on his left side, he heard a crack and sharp pain near his shoulder. His already injured knees slammed hard on the unforgiving cement floor. Leo came falling down after, he landed on Raph’s carapace, but he slipped off to the side.

Leo stood up to see Raph struggling to do the same. Leo walked over to Raph to help him to his feet. The second Raph stood up he crumpled down again. Leo sighed, “Raph sit down,” he commanded.

“Like I can do anything else,” Raph said glumly.

Leo sighed, they only just started so he had no supplies. He got up and walked around the tunnels, if he carried Raph they could easily pass through. He also knew is way back. Leo turned back to Raph. “I am going to carry you back home,” Leo said, “can you climb on my carapace?” Leo crouched down so Raph could easily climb on. Raph wrapped his arms around Leo’s neck and Leo carefully held behind Raph’s knees.

Leo entered the lair with Raph. “My sons what happened?” Splinter was frantic to get Raph who had fallen asleep on the way home from exhaustion.

“The tunnel we were in collapsed, I got stuck, Raph saved me but got hurt,” Leo explained.

Splinter looked over Raph’s knees they were scrapped up and swollen. Raph’s shell was heavily damaged as well, his plastron was cracked so badly a piece chipped off, a piece Splinter knew would never grow back. Raph also had some damage to his carapace.

Once he cleaned them he saw how vastly out of line he knees became, he would have to pop his son’s knee caps into place. After Donatello broke his arm when he was younger Splinter went to surface to get some necessities incase another accident was to happen.

Donnie helped Splinter wrap Raph’s knees with gauze and then they placed a brace on each knee. He also wrapped the injuries to Raph’s shell and the minor cuts on his head and over his body. Splinter knew is son would have to rest and take it easy until his knees healed.
Once Raph was cared for Splinter check on Leonardo.

Leo was sitting on the floor crying. Mikey was trying to cheer him up, but it was not working, “Mikey,” Leo cried, “Raph could not walk! and it’s my fault!”

“Leo it will be okay, it was an accident right?”

“Yeah,” Leo mumbled.

Two days later it was realized that Raph was having a difficult time walking. Mikey and Donnie searched the dump for a pair of crutches for him to help him move around. They found a broken set that Donnie fixed up.

Raph had been using the crutches for five days, it had been one week since the accident. Leo a was helping Raph, while Raph was angrily turing it down. He was forced to sit out training, not even knowing if he was going to walk properly again.

Raph huffed and threw down his crutches and tried to walk. His whole body shook, “whoa,” he sounded.

“Raphael, no! It’s took soon!” Splinter cried out picking up and crutch and running to his son. Raph started to sway back, Splinter caught him before he fell.

Raph sighed, “sensei,” he chocked out, “I want to walk again. I wish I never made Leo go into that tunnel.”

Splinter looked Raph in the eyes, “Leonardo blames himself for your injuries, from what he said you were very courageous going back and saving your brother. I am very proud of you.”

“What if I don’t walk again?”

“You will always be my son and I will love you no matter what. You have a strength in you my son, I do not doubt you will walk again.”

Raph smiled, “I know I will,” he said.
