OKAY, so earlier this week I was shifting through old art and I sorta stumbled across my original application art fro my dingo character Drex Sewatt, an assassin in Clubs for the group Spotlight on Royalty. Drex has been long-retired as an rp character and I have a reskin of him in another world, but the more I was looking at my two old versions of Drex, then at how I draw dogs now, I really wanted to draw him again with my current style. I have an evening with less homework than usual and I finished up the major peices of owed art, so I thought this would be fun.

Please note that the big difference between the 6/9 photo and the 8/11 is that I suddenly figured out that maybe I should use references (I know that sounds dumb, but it's actually not as common-sense at it might seem). Between 2016 and 2018 I've made my style a whole lot more cartoon y, not necessarily something I'm totally happy with, but something that I am aware of and have contentiously done. I think my biggest issue across the board is my struggle with anatomy. I would like to note that had I switched the second and the third picture, I suspect more people would consider that 'progress', however the second and first pictures where done drawing over actual pictures of dingo (Okay, actually the first one was over a dingo and the second was over a dog, if I remember correctly). With this in mind and that I did not need to use any photo for the picture I drew today, I am very pleased with myself. I still need to work on anatomy and I think that the use of different programs is pretty obvious as well (The first two where in Photoshop with a Bamboo tablet and the last was in Krita with a Watcom).

I guess the bottom line is that while it is clear that my art has progressed and changed, I'm not totally sure I'm happy with it yet. I want to find a balance between cartoon-y and realistic that I can happily maintain and do decantly. I'm not sure where that line is yet, but I'll be looking :3
