LOL. okay, just checking. I was wondering because always imagined it more like normal animals male on the back of the female, and I thought that it was weird if they were doing it like people. hehe.

Well, I was thinking that in the air they'd both have to keep their wings free, so face to face made more sense. If he got on top of her I could see that as really dangerous for both of them. I really wanted a ying and yang mid-air entanglement, rather than a sneak attack from above. I think it's cuter.

Well, if he 'took her from behind', they'd both have their wings free and open and keep them afloat in the air. The Dragonflight graphic novel ( which I meant to send you pictures for, didn't I... whoops? ) has Mnementh behind Ramoth, their wings spread, and his neck twined around hers.
Then again, I read a different book (not an Anne McCaffrey one) that had mating dragons and they flew as high into the sky as they could, coupled face to face like humans, and continued coupling as they fell to the ground. At the last moment, they would break away from each other, spread their wings, and fly to safety.
So I guess either way would work. However you imagine the scene to be interpreted. It's not like Anne McCaffrey gave us a 'how to' book on dragon sex Though I do hear she does a panel of it at Dragon*Con. I just wish I had known the year I was there. It would have been awesome to sit in on that

I suppose they could do the 'from behind thing' but it just didn't seem as cool to me. I like the tangled face to face and then breaking away before they fall too far. Sort of like falcons. ^^

Yeah, it's really the right way to go if you want to avoid gibbledness.
