Description Some may recognize this from one of my sketch dumps that I posted earlier. It's been done for awhile but I'm only just getting around to posting it. Still some things to work on on this, but for now, this'll do I think.

I really like the colour scheme and the way you did the panda's fur. You have quite an elegant brush stroke. I'm envious.

Okay, LOVE the brush-strokes on the bamboo. Which brush were you using for that?

Wish I could see the rider's eyes a little, but that's really pretty minor.

Also, Panda. :3

Just the standard airbrush with "shape" and "other dynamics" turned on and controlled by pen pressure, also went in to "brush tip shape" and turned the spacing down to 1 instead of 25.

The eyes are covered intentionally, it's how I designed the character.

And yes. Panda.

Ha. I've been using the hard round at half-opacity for a long time. I call it "Dege-Painting." I'm going to give your way a try though.

I figured the eyes were covered as part of the design, which is why I didn't kick up too much of a racket about it.

:3 Panda.

God I hate using any opacity other than 100%, you have so much control when it's set to pen pressure, you already get those values instead of having to pick every individual shade.

Otacon144 In reply to cuteskittles4u [2009-10-01 20:40:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I use it because it's consistent - I press down kinda hard when I write or draw, so I figured I'd keep to one shade so if my hand slipped, the paint quality wouldn't suffer for it.

eeeh i wouldnt say its thats consistant but thats cuz i lift the pen a lot and dont press down too much unless i actually want a really solid section.

I love how you managed to keep the bamboo looking very much like the oriental traditional paintings of them. It really helps give this piece a very authentic feel. :3

Haha, thanks! I wasn't sure if that would fit with the more digitally painted looking rider, but they just didn't look right more rendered out. Thanks much for that

You do like your pandas...
This is great, I love the composition and the figure.
I love the panda too, but that goes without saying. I like the simplified form though, it looks nice with the overall feel of the piece. This comment was brought to you by an art school loser.

Hell yes, Pandas shall rule the world one day, did you know?
Yeah I like where this is going but there's still a lot I can do with it... like make the grass and background look not so half-assed... lol, thanks for the input dear.
