CV | Zeus | AloneIn the wake of Karme's announcement, an uproar of mutterings traveled over the herd. Zeus was left just as bewildered as the rest, but too exhausted from the past few days to refute the mare's claims. Not only that, but the mudslide had left him a little battered, and although he hid it well, his right back leg smarted in a way he could not ignore.
Glancing at Meg, Zeus realized she too was a little worse for wear. There was a cut on her shoulder that must have come from a stray rock or stick and now her beautiful white coat was bloodied again, although the gash did not look deadly. It would heal, leaving a scar to remind him of yet another accident.
Hera stepped forward, an eyebrow raised above her scrutinizing gaze."A seer? Of the future?" she echoed. The disbelieving, slightly mocking tone of her voice told her opinion clearly enough, but Karme did not seem offended.
Still smiling, the roan mare nodded.

He was covered in a patchwork pattern of white markings that reminded Zeus fleetingly of Maia's spotted chestnut coat. Leda named the newborn Castor, and the group welcomed him into the fold.
With so many foals to look after the group had no trouble keeping busy as the winter season faded, giving way to spring. With Zeus's hoof on the mend, he was often left looking after his foals, but he didn't mind. It kept his mind from straying too far off the beaten path. As Ares and Dodona returned to their full health, they rejoined their siblings with their usual energy. Each of them were growing so fast, it was difficult for Zeus to believe. Ares was growing into a young stallion, and Zeus knew he would soon be ready to leave them, even if he didn't want to admit it. CV | Zeus | WarningAs time passed, the need for the herd to move on became greater and greater until Zeus could no longer ignore it. The nights had grown colder with the changing of the seasons, and with it the leaves turned brittle as brittle as they were fiery. Soon fall would steal away the plentiful grazing the herd had grown fat on during the hot summer. They would have to find other means to survive. Like the previous winter, there were many mouths to feed.
With the capture he'd escaped still fresh in his mind, Zeus lived his days reminding himself to take nothing for granted. He looked after the mares as best he knew how. He played with his foals when he wasn't standing watch, looking on in denial each day that they grew older. He'd said goodbye to several of his sons and daughters before, and as autumn settled in over the valley it came time for him to bid farewell to a few more.
