A workflow for the Jolly Red Rider: fav.me/dbxoqof
The image is a war-hammer Fantasy Role Play, themed Norska raider, with slight taste of season's greeting.
Got brand new set of inks with various shades of gray, and was quite content with them
So the workflow roughly:
I: A pencil draft. Nothing special here, This time tried to pay attention to muscular-anatomy, pose, and slightly the folding of clothes.
II: Inking the lines over the pencil. Both are visible in this step. used few different thickness balck inkpens here (from 0.05 mm to 0.3 mm)
III: Erased the pencil away under the ink.
IV: This was a rather new step for me. I used various ink pens of different shades of gray, to make the shadings, instead of pencil or computer. I still need to get used to this, but I'm very optimistic on this style From this point onward digital editing with GIMP
V: After downloading image IV, this was surprisingly simple. Only thing I did, was to change all white transparent, and color the main colors under it. With the ink-shading done earlier, this created rather nice looking end result just like this. No need to do any more shading on this step. (Note to self: result might be better, if I actually would change the hue of the inks at this point, to get shadings change color tone in addition to the brightness)
VI: Final image. Here added the colors for background, and in addition added some shading and extra shapes on the sky in addition to the existing ink - clouds.
