I looked at the links you provided and... HOLY S***! The gallery css' just JUMP out at you.
This is a fabulous idea and well thought out too. I love how the header image fades out as you scroll down and that it blends into the background of the gallery thumbnail images and boarders. It's smooth, centered, and bafflingly SIMPLE!
