Usually, Nit was never really nervous, in fact, the fierce little lady usually bickered with the other jockeys, made ridiculous bets she could never really win or walk around the introduction ring like the most confident queen on the planer. But today she felt different. She wasnæt sure why, but she had not felt nearly as confident since the olympics. Not just because of the results, but she had a troubling feeling of being watched in the audience, but not the admiring good kind of being watched. Earlier that day she had gotten a weird text from an unknown and unlisted number. She had brushed it off as either a microsoft scammer or someone whith a wrong number. Yet it was creepy enough to see just a blank message. No text, nothing. Her eyes peeked around the audience, the big crowd of cheering, well dressed and a little champagne-buzzed people. No one there seemed sketchy. Nita shrugged and decided to instead focus on regaining her respect at the race track. Since the olympics, she felt like she had to redeem some of the no-bullshittery type of racing tactics of hers. She had gotten way too soft with her jockey buddies! She was helped up on Tia's back and were ponied to the start. Tia seemed more than eager to get the show rolling, as she danced sideways, threw her head a few times and giving the other horses the death glare. Now, Tia was a very sweet and gentle horse with good manners, but she knew when she was racing, she liked to impose some fear into the other contestants. Or at least, that's how Nita excused the mare being occationaly mare-ish. With a challenging, almost daring grin and a wave to the jockeys she knew, Nita put her goggles on and tied up the reins. She thought about the tactics one last time. Tia preferred the middle or the front position, she would do best to stay together with a chill horse that could help keep her back and save energy for the last stretch. Nita looked at the spanish jockey, of course having watched and rewatched their race several times to know they usually saved energy. It was risky, but she felt like her best chance was sticking to them. Of course, there was the underdog that Nita knew almost nothing about from the UK. She had not been finding much info about them, but seeing the blonde woman and her horse made Nita worry about her tactics. If they were the type of racers to stay in the back and then suddenly rocket off before Nita had time to realize, then they would easily get past Nita and Tia. Nita breathed deeply, no, she had to trust in her tactic, her preparation, the long nights investigating the many racing teams, trust in Tia and herself.... Ok, she started feeling more ready again. Here we go!
