Description won the "Contract award" in the Carbine/DMR Contest for . For his prize, Kazanlak10 wanted me to draw something along the lines of a sort of big bore "assault lever-action". Like with a carbine-length barrel, textured synthetic furniture, Large-loop lever, full length scout rail with mounted Aimpoint, "peep" sights, and a spare cartridge carrier on the stock. And, this is what I came up with....

Concept by:

Design & Artwork:

Original Idea:

But, I accidently made it into a bolt-action rifle instead a lever-action rifle. I just completely overlooked it, until I submitted it. So I finally remade the weapon into a lever-action rifle like it was supposed to be.

I like how this is a lever action firearm, but also with a detachable box magazine, these were produced, but mostly as prototypes that never took off.

The external hammer system stays with the classic design, along with the action itself, and with a side mounted ejection port instead of on top. (both styles were popular during the lever actions prime time)

As allready pointed out, the stock does seem too low for the scope, but it looks really nice how it is, and there is not a lot you can do to fix it besides maybe lower the scope mount itself.

I also like the addition to the muzzle break.
And tat "tube" thing below the barrel is somewhat unexplained because its box magazine fed.

Regardless of possible flaws, these takes on a lever action are rare, and you did a wonderful job.

Thanks for the critique, much appreciated. Yeah, I know it has it's flaws. I think I will add a cheekrest too, thanks for pointing that out. :3

The rifle is mostly practicle, but has a short coming, the fact that your scope is pretty much useless with how low your stock is set. Other than that your work is amazing, though it looks like a forgrip would be a good idea if I owned this sucker. Your ejection port could use a small amount of extra detail, and there is an unexplained lower "Tube"...cleaning kit? anyway, this is a great piece, coloring looks good for desert and some urban combat in bright areas...grip looks iffy. yeah I'm out of relevant complaints. I love that you detailed the smoll things, weaver rails and small planes and ridges here and there.

THERE you go.

This here's the real deal. I like that sniper rifle before hand, and I do recall criticizing the fact that you made it (at first) impractical. I don't have much to say on the functionality of this gun; that looks great. I guess it's just Winchester 2.0. I'm really diggin the idea that this would be a very versatile combat rifle, whether or not the idea itself is a bit fantastic. Lever-style actions actually operate very fase, and assuming the kick isn't exorbitant, this weapon appears like it would be suitable for mid-range combat shooting. I'm rating this one because it does so well in each category: For vision, this is a very visionary gun; It's unique and functional and the art is excellent for the same reason that it's extremely original.

Technique wise, I love the texturing you did on this gun. All those things combined make the impact very profound.

So in short, REALLY good.

I'd recommend making it side-fed.

It looks like a heavily modified browning lever action rifle (magazine fed lever action rifle, Google it)

NBVega [2014-06-18 02:32:28 +0000 UTC]

I wonder if the lever action would have enough throw to actually cycle the weapon with that big magazine in the way....would take some careful engineering. Lever actions are incredibly fast and controllable in rapid fire, actually, and point very naturally. They're an excellent style of action, especially given how old they are.

I don't think anyone has yet devised a magazine fed lever action, have they?

Very cool! Nice job with the textures as well. I could actually see a synthetic stock like that gaining some popularity as an aftermarket mod to current lever-actions on the market.

To me it kind of looks like the lever would hit the magazine. Cool gun anyway.

CzechBiohazard In reply to LtDimitri [2012-06-16 19:58:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, I tried to make the magazine to curve enough so it wouldn't hit. But, I might have misjudged the angle.

Let me tell you: when it comes to shooting for fun, no other action is more enjoyable than a lever! Not only is it simple, but there are skills and tricks that can be applied to it. Not only is it stylish, but its as reliable as a pump action (Rarely jams) and it can be safer to maintain because when cleaning the barrel, so long the lever is sticking straight out, the firing pin will never release therefore minimizing the chance of misfire while cleaning. At least from my experience with a vintage 1887 longbarrel shotgun

CzechBiohazard In reply to SonicTheHedgeTrimmer [2012-06-16 19:09:57 +0000 UTC]

That's true. I shot an lever-action myself, but I forgot the caliber because it was when I was younger. But, I know for a fact that it was fun as hell to shoot!

SonicTheHedgeTrimmer In reply to CzechBiohazard [2012-06-17 06:29:06 +0000 UTC]

You're probably thinking a .22 caliber. Thats pretty much standard on most modern day lever actions. That and .38s.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CzechBiohazard In reply to SonicTheHedgeTrimmer [2012-06-19 17:05:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it was a .22 caliber, now that I think about it.
