High Lord Th-zho, see the following document for your approval.

Biotek Entity Report - 'Antibody'
Antibodies represent my team's latest breakthrough in sentient Biotek combat entities. Their effectiveness in assault and defensive roles is only overshadowed by much larger entities. Antibodies mark the upper limit to the size I can recommend being deployed onboard ships, and as such, recommend immediate blood-weaving. Our smallest ships, the Silka class corvette can easily hold six, with possible storage for six additional Antibodies in hibernation.

The key features of this entity is its ability to warp gravity in a local area, allowing it to hide all spectral signatures. This is only possible due to my team's creation of the most efficient Gravity organ yet. The defensive qualities of this generated gravity field are unmatched, even against our heaviest Bonesuits. Supplemented by standard Biotek regenerative capabilities, we should have a supremely deadly and durable entity.

While we do have the previous generation of Hunters and Nagas for capture and biomatter harvest, Antibodies can be supremely efficient in this role. I have coded the storage of mass sinks personally, ensuring an additional 790% increase in internal volume over that of the Naga. This additional biomatter storage capacity will do much to replenishing resources and ships lost in our continued flight from PsiComp.

As these entities are going to be our new expendable shock-forces, I have decided it best to keep their personalities from advancing in growth. The most developed they will become, could be roughly equivalent to children. <>Hah! I had to look up that term, it's been so long<>

The Antibodies shall be fiercely loyal to all surviving members of our Laughing Swarm, and will imprint on each ship's Biomancer, ensuring complete love and devotion.

Until next time my Lord,
Biomancer Hel Sotha
-First Biomancer

I could swear I've commented on this beautiful scene before... but I don't find it here Lovely work, of course! Those poor, poor aFras... they're in for a treat tonight! ...or are they the treats tonight? It's so difficult to recall the things I used to know... before the Mirror showed me so much more than my finite mind could hold. I love the distortions and the action, and the environment, and that clue-less green-haired aFra is going to be so excited when if she lives long enough to turn around!

Β It seems pretty clear these aren't professional troops. I mean, what type of soldier would want to be caught dead in those outfits! Well, I guess now they are, whether that was their intent or not.

It probably wouldn't go well for any ship crews to attempt rescue operations on vessels that are adrift (but still have life signs) that are equipped with these. Given how efficient that these things seem to be at hiding, I doubt even the best hand sensors would have an easy time detecting them. Unless these things can tell the difference between good intent and opportunistic salvagers.

Ya, these Afra clone 'soldiers' ('Deer' in arabic) are pretty much universally accepted as being a running joke. Even less competent than the Shik clones that Shabazik has made for his World-of-Aiers setting.

I am willing to bet that those weapons they have are just Airsoft replicas loaded with foam pellets.

Don't even get me started on those uniforms.

--

The Antibodies would act as a sentry on any derelict ship until they themselves went into hibernation due to insufficient resources. The micro reactors inside the entities won't run out of fissionables for several centuries, but they still need external nutrients.

Dunno if you can survive an encounter with these without having correct authorization. The shipbreaker raiders in your comment would probably have some way to make a wide band chemical 'spoof' to try and fool the Antibodies. That is, if they can manage to find the right chemical ID before they get eaten. Space piracy is a risky business... you're better off raiding merchants, not 'dead' military vessels. :I

Β And I'm guessing it wouldn't go well for good samaritans who are just trying to lend a hand. Especially if they aren't even expecting such automated defenses. They might expect security force fields protecting sensitive parts of the ship, knock out gas, even automated defensive low yield directed energy weapons.

Β Biotech defense organisms: perhaps not so much.

Then again, they'd probably only send a party over if their hails went unanswered.

So, if this is the Laughing Swarm's weapon, who are being attacked here? The Psi Corps?

BTW excellent effects on the entity, especially that phased transparency on the leg; also love the corridor details - well crafted

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to Colourbrand [2015-05-03 06:54:42 +0000 UTC]

PsiComp isn't an abbreviation for anything in English, thus the weird split capitalization... but that aside, these forces represent a faction known known as Azamuth Pharmaceuticals.

The 'Afra' model (Arabic for 'deer') is a type of Shik, which is an artificial human clone. The concept originates from Shabazik and his own setting. The Laughing Swarm managed to stumble into that universe by way of the Mirror, and have stuck around for a little while.

The Laughing Swarm are kinda being bullies, playing with tech some six to nine thousand years more advanced than everyone else.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Colourbrand In reply to Daemoria [2015-05-03 08:03:03 +0000 UTC]

Impressive - and thanks on the Afra information!

So if I am reading this right, the Laughing Swarm are not heroic - just renegades who do what they do?

And the mirror is like a "door" to other universes?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to Colourbrand [2015-05-03 08:10:08 +0000 UTC]

The members of the Exna fleets are not nice people. They have burned stars and planets out of existence. Those that have survived the purge by PsiComp are now doing what they must to survive.

They are ...not quite heroes... but maybe they might be one day.

Β Β  The Mirror is the dimension as expressed by the ultimate formula. Partial formulas can allow users to travel linearly from point to point at many thousands of times the speed of light.
Β Β  If you were to somehow have access to the perfected formula, you can effectively manipulate time and space as desired. Of course, there is a slight matter of actually understanding how to use it.

Ah, so that's where the creepy voices came from in Charge's story. I think I'll just hide waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over here..away from that.

This is pretty cool though, I really love the way you make the "Antibodies" (hope I got that right and didn't misread anything) Cloak and yet appear in the image at the same time. Also who allows people to wear earbud's on gaurd duty <.< Someones gonna get their ass chewed out ..if that someone manages to live.Β

...yeaaaaa, those Afras are not best suited for guard duty. They're more of a toy/piece of eye candy. I'm pretty sure their FN P90s are loaded with blanks as well, so they don't hurt themselves with friendly fire.

Ya, has made some awesome stories with these creatures. I really gotta draw more of Jessik. Biomancer Lor is kinda feeling lonely after she ran away.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to Ryivhnn [2015-05-03 05:23:50 +0000 UTC]

Well, clean up is less of a concern when there is no one left that will complain. Once the crew gets...appropriated... the ship itself is generally chewed apart for scrap. 'Waste not, want not.'

Aww, that's not fair to say, the Antibodies are adorable. Read this series to see what I mean --> fav.me/d8i27in RecklessCharge really portrayed them quite well.
