Description
This is an amazing story of a star system split between a majority-run Military dictatorship and a space station taken over by pirates.
The pirates were in constant demand of basic supplies, space-ship fuel, food, combat mechs and the occasional space narcotics (which are banned in public trade), but produced volatile substances to the point that they had to sell them at a discount to get rid of them.
The military Dictatorship was pretty much the opposite; They produced all the aforementioned supplies, fuel and "heavy metal combat" on their homeworld as food was produced on their secondary planet in the system (more on that later).
At first I told the pirates to forget about acquiring booze from me atm because HOLY SHIT the Military Directorate was watching their home like hawks so there was no way in hell I was smuggling anything more illegal than what I could buy on the open market (at a horrendous "discount" of the 30% sales tax). Gotta keep the stop-searches in mind, of course.
After selling the volatile chemicals to the Dictatorship home-world (and being endlessly stop-searched, violating my privacy on my own ship for possible "sales tax evasion, suspect of illegal goods" despite having purchased none atm), I decided to take a quick peak at their secondary planet and there were no patrols in sight - A perfect opportunity to "go dark" and affiliate with the "undesirable market" perfectly anonymously.
JACKPOT.
The planet was having a harvest-boom! Insanely over-stocked and willing to sell as low as $1 per unit, I went full Jontron "I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK" as I could fit on my ship (also buying some of the narcotics I couldn't grab earlier) - With my ship full to the brim with what would appear to anyone else as "random packaged microwave meals" and "civilian-issue MREs" I kept my cool and headed straight back to the pirate base.
This picture shows my first successful run on this accidental trade-lane; the most money I've ever made in any videogame (barring from modded Skyrim). I only wish I could compare those profits to my most recent trade-run between the Pirates and the Dictatorship.
Sadly after the pirates no longer suffered from shortages (because I supplied them to kingdom-fck) and the Dictatorship no longer needed extra nitro-glycerine (volatile substances), that trade route ceased to be profitable for me.
I WOULD have taken the bounty for those pirates, but the Military Dictatorship either didn't post the bounty for them yet or decided to withdraw it. Also (and more importantly), My fleet was woefully unready to take-on that bullshit-level of firepower.
And then my gameplay run fatally crashed into dust when I decided to buy the Pirate capital-class stolen cargo-freighter ship to find-out that I couldn't keep supplied, hence financially crushing my playthrough and then raided by the Space-Jihadist luddic path when I tried to "generously provide" them with crew-members, space marines and combat mechs that they were having a shortage on.
STAR SECTOR;
I love it. Play it. Watch SsethTzeentach's review and play the demo provided in the description of that video. Also turns out the guys that made the game are the same devs that made the game "Brigador".
I'm obviously biased and I DON'T CARE.
