In all that asking about meaning, I forgot to actually replay on the comment itself...

Thank You so much for this comparation, that means a world to me, cause I'm trying to portray somethings with my fotos, but not always I get feed back that is actually spot on to my intentions.

Oh, nice!
When I tried to find meaning came up only spanish explanation for "Fea", hehe and that means ugly, hehe...

HydromelKing In reply to DAGAIZM [2019-04-24 20:50:18 +0000 UTC]

This spanish word meaning was totally at the opposite !

The roots of the words fae and fairy come from the old French : "fée" (meaning : fae or fairy)
and "féerie" (meaning : land of fairy, magic, enchantment). It comes from the Latin root : fata : "the Fates",
"that which is ordained ; destiny, fate".

DAGAIZM In reply to HydromelKing [2019-04-25 09:54:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I know it was opposite, but that was all it shoed as closest to it, hehe...

Thank You so much for this very detailed explanaition, I am always curious where the words come from, and knowing few different lenguages -atleas good enough to communicate with people- gives much wider perspective on the way people were thinking long time ago and how they came up with the words.

HydromelKing In reply to DAGAIZM [2019-04-25 10:25:04 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. I like to know the roots of the words because
it helps me to understand the connections between most of
our european languages.

Beautiful portrait, by the way !

Thank You so much!

I am from Poland, at school we had to learn first russian and then german, but english was not available -(atleast for me, there was some expensive cursus, buf we had no money for that)-.
My ount had a book to learn it at home, so my sister and I we had some little beginnings of english, but no more that few basic words and sentaces. Later on we got english at schools, but the teachers were not experienced and the first half year we had to listen to the tapes to learn self at home... then teacher was changed and the second one was bit better in english.
First thing when she came she picked me to count to 20, but when I did mixed up 12 with 20 so she gave me the lowest number possible. The rest of the class was very confused and finaly somebody told her that the other teacher learned us only until 12! So I was actually best of the class thanks to that book at home, but teacher was shocked how low level was the whole class after that half year...
I had also little bit of french on school, just enogh to know how it function, the same with german...
Russian I could speak a bit, but now I forgot almost all...
When I went out of Poland I knew only few sentances in english and no dictionaries to translate, I had to ask people "what it mean?" and that's how I learned during a half year english and spanish as well without dictionary, so my writing is less good than speacking.
After I moved here to Holland and now I'm speacking some dutch as well, any time I stumble accross some word that is familiat in two lenguages I go try to figure out the connection.
Lately I found out that my native lenguage -Polish is very similair to ancian Sanskrit and that it said in the Vedas that this knowledge was brought there to India from central Europe just around place where I come from, so that us very interesting and exiting to me.
The word Veda is almost the same still until now to the word "wiedza" -(w read like v)- meaning "knowledge", and it is similair to word "widzi" meaning "(he/she/it) see", which - when You think about - have to do with knowing.
I just love ancient riddles like that!

HydromelKing In reply to DAGAIZM [2019-04-25 12:38:06 +0000 UTC]

There are a lot of connections between the words of Indian civilizations
due to the Proto-Indo-European language which gave birth to all the languages
of Europe (except for Turkish, Finnish and Hungarian) and of the actual India.
The words "mother" and "father" are very similar in most of the European languages
due to a common Proto-Indo-European root.
The history of European peoples is very interesting and confirm this
common heritage.
The Northmen, later called Vikings when they made their raids
all over Europe, had asian legacy in their culture.
In the nordic mythology, Asgard is the paradise of the Ases (Gods),
and the name Ases comes from the word Asia, it means Vikings' ancestors
had travelled from Asia before they settled in Scandinavia.

I come from France and learnt German and English at school but I'm not able
to speak German, I only know a few basic sentences. I also learnt ancient Greek
it's not very useful, except to understand the roots of French language, especially
for the formal language and the words used in sciences. I'm way better in English,
I wrote poetry in this language and I hope it sounds good even if it's not
easy as in my mother tongue. I think the level in English could be increased in my country
but French people are known to be lazy when it comes to learn other languages.
It's getting better, nowadays, as we are changing our bad habits.
But I can't complain myself because I always had good teachers.
I'd like to learn Italian and Portuguese in the future.

I will take a look at this video. I'm always interested about
cultures and languages and the way they are related
to each other.

And I will take the time to explore your gallery, by the way.
Short line poetry is the more difficult to wrote for me.
I have to summarize my thoughts and to cut some verses,
because I always wrote long verses and I need to cut them
into smaller pieces !

Ofcours, its not sure that is all good info in it, the reviews under were bit sceptical in some causes, so let me know what you thonk about... I just had to add that Etrusk runs are readible in slavic runs...cause they say nobody know where they came from...

I have apart folder for written stuff, so should be essy to find, many things are very short and it is not so much all togherther...
I hope You enjoy some of it!
There may be mistakes still in the texts...

For now I found this in my gallery, it is attouched to the theme we were talking about...

Few things I have written in collaboration with other artists here on dA, if You ever feel like writing together some fun poem just let me know, I love it!
Normally it goes like that, one person start with few lines then other one continue next few lines and so on passing slowly growing poem... how about that?

HISTORY OF SLAVIC PEOPLEI would like to tell You about the people living in the times when most of the tribes still was living from hunting and collecting only. More exactly about
territories of eastern Europe under the Baltic sea,Those intelligent people learned to listen to the Nature and they figured out when to plant the crops and vegetables, much earlier than people to the west or north.
We don't realize how crucial this was for the way of living, because to be able to do so, they actually figured out a calendar at least 3 000 years ago already well in use! And it had only 6 h difference, but let's not forget that the calendar we use now have issues as well, and that was just another way of solving the problem of not equal mount of days in month…

This calendar was built out of points symbolising days forming together cross with all the arms equally long. It was working  in periods of 21 years, exactly like cycles of Nature. Nowadays only wine connoisseurs know about it,

Thank you for giving me the link, but I need another computer
in order to watch it. (I've no sound on my old computer and I need
to buy a new one). I could watch it this weekend at my father's house.

Langfocus on youtube is making great videos about similar topics
and about how languages work, you should watch them.

Sure, it would be interesting and fun to write with someone else.

Ok, no problem, its not that special to bother too much about it...don't worry.

Let me know if You find the time to read the thing I send last time in thumb, I'm more curious what You think about that...

And feel free to start the poem if You have some idea or atleast let me know if You have idea for the theme You would like to write about..

And thank You for the tip I will check this Langfocus...

Your text about the slavic people history was very interesting to me
because I didn't know nothing (like John Snow !) about the slavic
cultures, except the fact there were close roots between Czech
and Polish languages. I also can read the cyrillic alphabet
even if I don't understand the Russian language !

The fate of slavic peoples was not very different from the celtic tribes
from the west of Europe. But they have been oppressed and submitted
earlier in history by the Roman Empire like the Iceni tribe and their queen Bouddica
and like the Gaulish tribes who fought against Julius Caesar.
The christianism settled its supremacy since the fifth century in France
(in the Frankish realm of Clovis, to be exact).

We didn't study anything at school in France about the Central and Eastern
European cultures. We didn't study about foreign litterature either, and I find
it's a shame ! I know a little bit of the history of Ukraine and Russia, because
I read about it by myself.

I will send you soon a private note about the themes we can write about.
Have a nice day or night !
