Description
Remember this little lady ? Well, I never really felt very satisfied with that painting...I was (and still am) pleased with the feathers on her back, but the perspective is terrible, her head is cartoony...I just never felt that it worked. I should have used more reference!I recently rediscovered the painting in the back of the wardrobe and thought that's it, the bird has to go! I bought myself a tub of clear gesso so that I could 'refresh' the canvas and try sanding it back to give smooth canvas a go. I'm hoping I can get better detail that way as I'm not the biggest fan of canvas texture for detail work.
Anyway, I mixed a goldy-coppery-metallic colour with the clear gesso and went at it with a sponge brush...this is the result! (Terrible photo but you get the idea) I have an idea of where I want to go with this...if anyone's interested to see more WIPS let me know and I will continue uploading progress shots, but it will probably be slow progress as I've somehow managed to get four separate pieces on the go along with everything else I've got going on! Whaaaat?! But I did invest in a spectrum bulb, so now I can do colour work when the daylight sucks or is non-existent, yay!

I have about that many on the go too, madness I say!
The feathers on the bird were spectacular, looking forward to see this done again

Hopefully it's not another disappointment
My four pieces are all in different mediums...acrylic, coloured pencil, water soluble pencils and graphite/ink. I'm not quite sure why I've started so many, I should really concentrate on finishing one at a time!
What are your pieces? Are they a series?

I've got a bunch I'm doing as commission examples, all different mediums, and two oil paintings, a graphite and ink comic page (which I've hardly started >.> been putting it off because it's difficult) a map I have to re-paint because I can't find the original - only the sketch, and a piece just in the concept stage which I want to try doing in ink, watercolour and coloured pencil. So, you know, nothing too much!
I'm also supposed to be going away for a week and sorting out my art area, at the moment everything is stacked up and it's impossible to find anything, but sorting requires help from someone because most of the stuff I want to shift will require two people. Plus there honestly isn't actually enough room in my small corner, I'd so love an art studio! (I keep buying new art supplies >.> I got money for xmas, I need an intervention, there is no room for it!)
I'm sure your new piece will turn out great!

Not bored, mildly overwhelmed!
Got the work area re-arranged, went out yesterday and got more paper and a better pencil sharpener as mine had started to eat the wood (still haven’t figured how to sharpen the blades, it must be possible) and then slept in terribly today so I'm already behind!
I'm going to take a photo of my new setup soon, so happy with it! No more being jammed into a tiny corner
