Original characters are characters you have created, unrelated to any sort of fan-fiction.
You do NOT have to be a member of Daily-Lit-Deviations to submit to the contest folder.
Mature Content is allowed, as long as it has all appropriate tags attached.
If you choose to use an object such as a cigarette, your characters do not have to be connected by the exact same cigarette.

Wow, there STILL hasn't even been a notice telling us this thing is off. Definitely not participating in this group's contests anymore...

Hey! So I submitted my story yesterday well before the time limit was up, and I noticed it hasn't been accepted into the folder yet. I was wondering if I've been disqualified for some reason or another or if my story is just waiting to be approved. Thanks in advance!

In my poem it does connect two otherwise unrelated character but character do not speak to one another and one dies. Is that o.k. ?

Yep that's fine, as long as there is a connection of some sort.

I'm SO excited to hear these results but I won't be home for them. I'm going on a vacation until August 6th. I'm SO going to try to sneak peaks on my phone to see, but I won't have that great of service - I'll be camping. Can't wait til I get home!

I have an idea already. However, in my idea, one character has already noticed/was watching the other - the object just helped the two characters really connect. Is that still counted as otherwise unrelated characters? Thank you!

LiliWrites In reply to ilyilaice [2012-07-24 05:12:43 +0000 UTC]
I'd say that if they hadn't known each other before, that counts.

Yeah- I was going to particapte too- but 2,500 words is to restricting for my style of thinking and writing. >.> I could make it happen, but than my whole heart wouldn't be in it- and that doesn't make for good literature. v.v
I wish the limit could be 5,000 words (that's generally the average)- you'd only have to snip a bit to make it happen than.

When you say 'connect the lives of two' characters is it okay if the connection only goes one way, where one character is connected to another without the other even being aware? A quick example: A woman writes a letter and a man finds it a century later and falls in love with her through the letter. Does that count?

Thank you for your comment, I take the work i did for the summer contest was reviewed, so in that, would I just like to understand what it was that it meant, though, when wrote as my work either defines a genre, or the genre defines my work. The whole message was within my poem is that the rubik's cube bears the weight of our determination turned frustration. The infinite puzzles that conflict us in our daily lives can be solved in more than one way, may not be the right way, but it still makes us feel we have succeeded. Again, thank you for commenting, have a nice day.

Books of poetry as the prizes???? Ah! I want to win those so bad!
I never win contests though. I'll have to try extra hard on this one.
