Yep, it's real... More or less.

It's design prototype participating in Next Gen Soldier Weapon - Rifle US Army's program.

It's rather early stage of development, so final gun may look different... Also, there can be no gun at all: it's not the first US attemptΒ  to drop M16, and previous ones ended up in nothing.
