Description
Continuation of my character sheets for the Emion project.Somewhere in the desert of Luxran there's a power plant called Enirgon that holds and uses illegal espers. They put them through some kind of process, their powers restrained, their energy harvested and then used for plenty of purposes. Powers like these are generally considered dangerous and illegal because they have a tendency of corrupting the bearer's mind to the point of insanity. People with these powers are caught, the adults eliminated and the kids then raised in a lab where they learn to see the doctors as their caretakers. The amount of freedom they receive depends on their level of cooperation. Experiments are boring but generally painless due to the usage of painkillers and illegal espers having regenerative abilities and a high tolerance for pain.
Kids are referred to as serial numbers, often shortened for convenience. This is because many of those children do not have a name, and the staff believes referring to them by name makes the staff emotionally attach to them. The children here are subsequent experiments used in the story as main source for the power plant. Of course there are many more of these children (number 1 to 12 do exist -- and non-cores too, but they have different serial numbers) but these are simply the ones that have significance in the story

I think these sorts of short bios are interesting for the experiment characters, although it's sad that they had to be taken at such an early age. I can't quite understand the Fourteenth one though...

Sooo... is Fourteen a single or double entity? They don't seem to like being around each other so is it one of those cases where they're a split version of a single person?
If you ask me, if you split my personality into opposites and created another me out of that, then yeah, we'd both hate each other.

Both. They're split. Two entities but the same and deeply linked in a psychological level. They share thoughts, emotions and pain. One of them is aware of the connection to the triangle power source and dabbles in stuff outside this realm. The other isn't aware so much.

As strange as it sounds, I really like the lines used on everyone's hair. *o* It's very clean but still shows a lot of form, like precise if that's the right word?
Also that hair spike tho :'D

True, but it still looks really geometric and defined with the placement of the lines. ;u; I guess more specifically on Fifteen's tied up hair, the places where the lines stop in the circular pattern makes it look blocky but fluid at the same time?
Sorry for the focus on just that one detail though, when I'm tired I tend to ramble xD So with that being said, they're all great characters with interesting backstories. Keep up the good work! ovo

Btw are the powers in Emion kinda categorized and sorted to specific shapes or sth like that? Kinda get the feeling that the more "lines" the more powerful they are... though, that'd mean the circle kinda falls out/ is sth special.
I.e. - (1 lines), x (2 lines), Δ (3 lines), O (the infinite line, duh?).

Yes, powers are categorized. The serial numbers itself are some kind of in-world-science-categorization.
The symbols don't have anything to do with their strength, but rather with the kind power source they're connected to. They're like collective sources whose powers are sometimes handed out to people, but in some cases are also forcefully taken. Very mysterious and they can't really be measured by any scientific equipment, but those that are connected to it know.

Yes. Specific powers have specific attributes and connect better to people with certain mindsets. It's not like you can do a certain type of powers only when connected to a specific source, but some sources are more prone to certain type of powers.
As for the handing out. Two of the known power sources are known to be connected to Elysa and Anima, the world's gods. If handed out, they're most likely to do that. It rarely happens, though.

Well... yes and no. The story is a bit more complicated.
Powers are actually quite common. Over half of the world population has them. It's just certain levels of energy or certain types of powers (mindbending and such) that are illegal to have and will get you locked up if the government finds out. Most of the rebels indeed have illegal powers because... well... it's their reason to join the rebellion XD
As for the power sources. They provide a connection to certain collectives. Certain sources of knowledge that are unknown to most of mankind and honestly... not meant to be seen by human eyes either (many people who have that direct link tend to go insane over time, or at least be damaged). It's some kind of insight in the higher workings of the universe that'll grant one understanding to use those powers more effectively, but it comes at a devastatingly high price. The effects differ per power source. Some tend to damage the body, whereas others cause permanent hallucinations and nightmare fuel. The triangle power source is especially known for the latter.

Not really a database. More like something that opens up your senses to things you've never seen or experienced before. Things outside of the normal human experience. Things that the human mind isn't truly made to understand either, which is what causes the insanity.
Nightmare fuel depends per person. Some only see it in their sleep, others have vivid hallucinations when awake. Depends on how close they get to the source, because even people that get close to the ghost children see glimpses of their alternate reality sometimes. It's scary shit, best to stay away from if you value your sanity. But some people choose to involve themselves willingly because they either seek for power or knowledge.
