Description "Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, Santa Anna, Santa Susannah,
Santa Cecilia, Santa Copelia, Santa Domenica, Mary Angelica,
Frater Achad, Frater Pietro, Julianus, Petronilla,
Santa, Santos, Miroslaw, Vladimir,
And all the rest.

A man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries,
And high above the church bells start to ring.
And as the heaviness the body, oh, the heaviness settles in.
Somewhere you can hear a mother sing.

Then it's one foot, then the other as you step out onto the road.
How much weight... how much...
Then it's how long and how far
And how many times, oh, before it's too late?

Calling all angels,
Calling all angels,
Walk me through this one,
Don't leave me alone.
Calling all angels,
Calling all angels,
We're crying and we're hurting
And we're not sure why.

And every day you gaze upon the sunset
With such love and intensity.
Tt's almost... it's almost as if,
If you could only crack the code,
Then you'd finally understand what this all means.

But if you could, do you think you would
Trade in all the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you'd miss
The beauty of the light upon this earth
And the sweetness of the leaving.

Calling all angels,
Calling all angels,
Walk me through this one,
Don't leave me alone.
Calling all angels,
Calling all angels,
We're trying, we're hoping,
We're hurting, we're loving,
We're crying, we're calling
'Cause we're not sure how this goes."

[ Calling All Angels - Jane Siberry ]

This is a song I love very much ever since I've heard it for the first time in one episode of the television series Charmed. I think it goes along perfectly with this photo.

This shot would be improved in two ways. First, were it mine, I would crop out the entire foreground. The bottom edge of the photo would then, on the left side, just barely miss the bottom edge of the statue's robe.

Second, and more important, is the need to do something to correct the typical problem of a normally exposed sky leading to an underexposed main subject. The easy solution is fill flash, correctly calibrated so that lighting looks more less less natural. Maybe there is software that can emulate that post-production. If you went back to stage this shot, this would be a case where portable reflectors (and/or lights) could be used to throw additional light onto the shaded main subject.

It also strikes my eye, because of the shadow on the statue and in the trees, that there is a slight blue tint to the picture, that seems to happen in the shade. You can certainly address that using post-production software.

Having been critical, let me say that I like the shot. I just think it can be improved.

You're welcome. I forgot to add that the photo does indeed work really well with the poetry.
