Description
I’m a huge fan of the Simon Furman Marvel Transformers stories (both UK and American). Some of the best plots featured Powermaster Optimus Prime. Andrew Wildman’s pencils and Stephen Baskerville’s inks were incredible during this era. Simon Furman depicted Optimus Prime as a deep thinking leader who was well aware that the Autobot/Decepticon war had to end: he even had Optimus surrender to Decepticon leader, Scorponok, to bring the warring factions together.
This is my own take on Powermaster Optimus Prime: I heavily reference a beautiful Takara re-release of the original generation 1 toy (Super Ginrai). I bought a copy in Sydney. I always liked the unique angles of this design’s head.

Lost him? Damn. Well with the massive popularity of TF toys, I'm sure they'll keep re-releasing him. Speaking of toy releases, the unofficial (AKA 3rd party) Transformers toys are becoming impressive. I picked up Sludge (AKA Thunderous) by GCreations, he's AMAZING. He has more detail than my MP Grimlock. And they look great together.
Hadn't heard about the Brave series until you mentioned it. Yep, the Japanese are gods of Mecha. I've been re-watching the remastered Robotech series from the start. They've edited back in all the adult content that was originally removed for western audiences. The stories and designs are still awesome.

I'm a big fan of the Japanese side of Transformers. They have so many interesting & colorful characters, great stories, epic music, lots of awesome stuff. Ginrai's 1 of my personal favorite Japanese Transformers continuity characters!

All true. And how good are the Takara toy re-releases? I got the Takara reissue of Super Ginrai - and where the original Hasbro release was all plastic, the Japanese version is metal for the truck's cab section and has blue eyes for the smaller robot. Just an amazing piece.
I got into the Japanese cartoons when they were released on DVD in Australia. It was so good to see Headmaster & Powermaster era characters in animated form.

I had the American reissue as Powermaster Optimus with the Apex Armor & the front of the cab was metal, too.
The characters in the Japanese series are just too fun not to like!

Brilliant! Just can't beat die-cast metal.
Yeah, the Japanese know how to keep it entertaining.

Hell yeah! I hope to find another reissue to replace the 1 I lost.
True dat. Btw, ever heard of the Brave series? It's an offshoot of Transformers from the 90s. Think of it like a Transformers/Gundam Amalgam. It's really good from what I hear. I've been trying to make time for it.
