Description My dreams are haunted by many things in my past. I awaken full of adrenaline and cannot fall back to sleep. Some are nightmares of my time in the Military, some are even bad memories of being a Deputy Sheriff. And other times I am back in the Rodeo circuit, I haven't taken a bull out of the chute for 12 years and yet I still long for those days. My final ride ended me in the hospital getting titanium bars put in my arm, but through all of the pain, I loved it!

Its really something, when one hunkers down on his bull rope, sitting upright with his hand poised in mid-air, sitting up tight on that rope, rosin smelling up the air mixing with the crowds anticipation,Your whole world goes silent... Until you nod your head and that chute gate swings wide, unleashing the freight train beneath you, slobber arching in the air, churning with mud and grime as the freight swings upward, belly curling to the sky, almost graceful, the power-house launches and groans, spins and doubles back, the noise from the stands is almost deafening, that is of course, if you could hear it over the blood pounding in your ears. Eight seconds seems like an eternity, but the safest place for you to be in high up on that arching back... You skitter sideways, off the left side, the ground that seemed to be miles under you comes racing up to meet you, but you dont stay there long, there's a beast to be reckoned with and he's out for blood, running now, the bull fighters are on your side, one leap and you're safe on the arena rail. One of the more graceful maneuvers you've come to master- the beast is roped and dragged from the arena. A six-point-nine second ride, once on the preparing side of the fence, you dust yourself off, and with a shake of your head you walk away from the chutes, bull rope slung over one shoulder, you silently thank the bull and thank the Lord and wander on- theres a rodeo in Fort Worth next weekend, and you don't want to be late. Absolutely amazing explanation! I have to disagree with the rail being safe though. LOL there have been times that I missed it completely with the uplifting help from the thundering hurricane hot on my heels.Β  Other times I have been thrown into the rail hard enough to lose consciousness.Β  The best is when I thought I was home free on the rail and realized that Bulls can reach pretty high when they have a mind to, and you become a human pinata.Β  Great times and memories, thank you for sharing your wonderful writing! it looks like the bull doesn't want a man with open legs sat on its back

Some of us are happiest sitting behind a desk, some of us are happiest anywhere else - such as those guys on 'Deadliest Catch'!

I love having the experiences to be able to put actual emotion into my work!

Yes, my 5th and 6th weeks on grave yards I really have a hard time sleeping. A lot of it is the past creeping back up. So I drew myself in the thrill of a hurricane...

I mean, I've done graveyards as a younger man, but this.....

Better to draw the things that I enjoyed, than the things that haunt me awake in a cold sweat. Don't get me wrong I miss the Army, had I not been medically discharged I would still be in it. I also enjoy a lot of things with being a cop, but there are disturbing things that come with that job as well. Lack of sleep brings a lot of things back, lol, so I try and use the emotion in creating my art!
