Description
I was asked to get some work together for my upcoming job interview that shows my artistic process. Since I didn't have any examples to share, I had to make one. That's why I made this 'simple' animation. Most of the time, I delete my progress as I go. This works out well for me since, when I don't, I end up accidentally exporting finished images/movies with the sketchy crap I start out with in there. (It's times like that I wish when you turned off layers in Flash they behaved like layers in Photoshop.)So, in case anyone ever wondered how I go about animating in Flash nowadays, I give you this process animation. It starts off with the roughs which are just quick lil sketches with the Wacom tablet to give me a base to work off of. These are nothing pretty but gives me a starting point. From these, I go to the rough lineart which is my first cleanup attempt on the rough animation. It is also drawn using the Wacom tablet. From the rough lineart I proceed to the finished lineart which is simply the cleaned up version of the roughs. I clean it up using the mouse and the smooth and straighten tools. After I finish up the lineart, I add color and shadows which gives us the finished animation. I also watch the cycle repeatedly as I work and tweak things as I go.
Overall, I think I spent about 20-25 hours on this project. The walk cycle is 13 frames long and was created in Flash MX 2004 using a Wacom tablet.

Haha, I just thought that if you wanted to tweak it further at some point you should have his chin fat wobble.
