Hello! Do you still remember me? I'm still alive and I draw some small pictures once for a while. This is one of not so many pictures in color which I have made since my school years. I'm made it few days ago, as a small gift for my new friend, Ms. Justyna Kierat - great biologist and also a great artist; she draw wonderful pictures about animals as an illustrations to books, not only for kids. You can watch her beautiful arts about animals - especially birds - on her Facebook fan-page Pod kreską or on her blog POD KRESKĄ. Of course, everything is in Polish, but to "read" the beauty of the art, text is not need... [If you have a FB profile , please: like her page... by the way ]

Few days ago she had an art show in Voivodeship Public Library in Kraków and I was one of guest; this exhibition of her arts had a title "Evolution in pictures" and it has been describing very seriously problems about evolution and genetics in very funny and artistic way. I have decided to comment this title in equally funny way: and that's how this picture has born in my head - (R)evolution in pictures. I've also thought it would be funny if I would draw that picture in HER style, and that's how I draw my first picture in cartoon-style.

Here you can see a cartoon version of Justyna Kierat (blond girl) which has had to face with mythical and legendary creatures which has not been taken into account of the objects of "seriously biology" and not been depicted in this exhibition... OK; one unicorn was there, being honest, but he was a good old friend of Ms. Artist so... doesn't matter.

Big Foot has a regret to Ms. Artist that there are 'Not enough pictures about Big Foot' [in Polish there is funny word-game, because sign literally says "Too SMALL (amount of) pictures, about BIG Foot"]; that little green creature is Chupacabra, which objects to thinking that 'Chupacabra is some Abracadabra' [popular incantation used as a magic word; symbol of something unreal and unserious]; Unicorn has a sign 'How unicorn looks like not everyone see' [it is paraphrase of famous Polish text from our first Polish encyclopedia from 1745, where author says "How horse looks like, everyone see"]; Phoenix, fire-bird says that 'Evolution is burnt-out' [here... nothing to say]; And of course a great and lovely representative of the most magnificent fantastic creatures, dragons - Mrs. Toothless! - who is certain that 'Dragons have not yet died out' [which is also a paraphrase of the first words of the Polish National Anthem; "Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła" ("Poland has not yet perished")].

I know that she loved that picture and put it on her fridge to watch it every day. So, I can clearly say that it is one of my best drawings; and not the most complicated... You see? Because the real art is simple - it is just liked by people, and then it is good.

Hejka! Pamiętacie mnie jeszcze? Wciąż żyje i rysuje małe obrazki raz na jakiś czas. To jest jeden z nie tak wielu obrazków w kolorze, jakie zrobiłem od czasów szkoły. Zrobiłem go parę dni temu jako mały prezent dla mojej nowej znajomej, Justyny Kierat - wielkiej biolożki a i wspaniałej artystki; rysuje cudowne obrazki o zwierzętach jako ilustracje do książek, nie tylko dla dzieci. możecie zobaczyć jej przepiękne prace o zwierzętach - zwłaszcza o ptakach - na jej fanpage'u na Facebooku Pod kreską lub na jej blogu POD KRESKĄ.

Kilka dni temu miała ona wernisaż swoich prac w Wojewódzkiej Bibliotece Publicznej w Krakowie i byłem tam jednym z gości; ta wystawa prac miała tytuł "Ewolucja w obrazkach" i opisywała bardzo poważne problemy na temat ewolucji i genetyki w bardzo zabawny i artystyczny sposób. Postanowiłem skomentować to w równie zabawny sposób: i tak oto narodził się pomysł na ten rysunek w mojej głowie - "(R)ewolucja w obrazkach". Pomyślałem też, że byłoby zabawnie, gdybym narysował ten rysunek w JEJ stylu, i tak narysowałem swój pierwszy rysunek w stylu komiksowym.

Opis po polsku zbędny; wystarczy samemu obejrzeć i przeczytać A naszym przyjaciołom anglojęzycznym wyłożyłem co-i-jak! mam nadzieje, że zrozumieli podteksty i uśmiali się tak ja i my.

Wiem, że ten rysunek się jej spodobał i przypięła go na lodówce, żeby oglądać go każdego dnia. tak więc, mogę śmiało powiedzieć, że to jeden z moich najlepszych rysunków; choć wcale nie najbardziej skomplikowany... I widzicie? Bo prawdziwa sztuka jest prosta - jak się innym ludziom podoba, to wówczas jest dobra.
