***FULL VIEW PLEASE****process caps from the Firedance pic: *** [link] ***
the background was a slow composition and changes from time to time as I changed my mind. Step 2 shows how it was laid out with basic brushes and bush/tree brushes I have in Photoshop. I started laying in the photographs gradually from step 3 and onward.
Also, you'll notice her face changes towards the end from being blacked out, to fully visible, then back to in the shadows, at least around the eye area. I personally was not happy with her purple-ish hue and tried my best to tone it down for the final product.

Very nice! Though I wonder if you meant for the completed image to be devoid of a water mark. That seems like the most important part to mark.

God....you're so good at this. I LOVE your lighting. The flames in the background are PERFECT. And the textures are amazing too.

the initial colours laid out with brushes and texture
find, apply, manipulate several layers of fire photos at high resolution.
these were set down on "overlay" layers.
adjust colours accordingly during or when your picture is complete.

I just noticed that the title of this is firedance which oddly coincidental because I recently saw this movie "The Legend of Suriyothai" where they where there was a ceremonial firedance. It was performed, from what I could tell, mostly to "eliminate" in power kings when the government was overthrown. (I know it's random, but coincidence seemed too odd to not mention.)
I love the step by step and appreciate it immensely.

my gosh this is stunning! I always appreciate the finished work more after viewing a WIP because I see all the effort that was put into the piece.
The fire is amazing. Gorgeous lighting in this piece..
and the detail of the weapons shes holding is ultra realistic..

thanks but i can't take full credit for the fire since it's more matte painting/photograph overlayed than actual hand-drawn.

felt keeping it hidden was more appropriate for the picture.
