Wrote a story. It tanked. Here's the cover art. It's a simple colour over a basic sketchI rather thought that the story would be received a mite better than it was.
It wasn't.

If one has worked earnestly on something, put true effort into making it, and people yet love and despise it, that something is not necessarily a failure. To evoke controversy is as great an achievement as is fostering love.
As to why it gained so many dislikes, there were a number of reasons, I think. First, it was not like my other writings. It was an experiment for me, and the people who follow me probably found it jarring. Others likely didn't like the plot of the story itself, others likely thought the premise bad, or had some emotional reaction that made them feel that the story was wrong in some way.
I do remember there was a string of comments on the subject of it being a "rape" fic, which really I suppose it was in a way. There was quite a large argument there.

It's more of a horror story, but it does involve sex. It depends what you consider a clopfic; I dare say someone could masturbate to it. But that's not really saying something given the sexual nature of our species.

dont worry about them Daniel , they're just childish and dont understand quality writing. not everything has happy story is what they seem to have forgotten.

Well many people can't handle sad endings or darkness in their stories, i at lest try to read it before i give it a nah or ya. Ive not come across anything ive failed to read all the way. right now im in a story called the Chase which is still not done but about 770 chapters deep and about 2 or 3k words each chapter.. im hooked honestly.. xD it has a real life feet to it i know not everyone likes it but i like it none the less. if your interested in reading it let me know just a warning it has a lot of twists and turns. And ive never really been a reader till i came to this fic..
Edit- Ive been reading this for a little more then a month on and off when i have plenty of time to kill and right now im at chapter 644, i love the story the characters a few i really hate xD but yeah thats what i love about it.

but i dont really know how this works
i always thought a story is good based of its writing , not what genre it is.
if someone doesn't like something because of the writing that's understandable
if its because the genre and it gets an instant dislike with the person reading , that i dont understand.
plus someone commented that weren't going to read it , why would put that in the comments.
they could of just leave , no author wants to see that. i would rather have people not comment on my stuff then give me useless negative comments , that is not criticism that i could use.

but if its someone who stuck in their head-cannon and not willing to see someone else version of a character then no i dont understand.
i dont know if you read The evening sonata ,but i just realize the dark story is apart of that like a alternate story of that story if gone completely dark

No, no, it wasn't spam. I'm not going to delete anyone who isn't actually spamming. What they said was that the story had no worth, objectively, because of its subject.
I don't mind, and even encourage opposing opinions. But when someone says that something I worked hard at, and spent some time thinking about and creating, has no worth just because they don't like it, that pisses me off.
