Description
Ink and colored pencils on paper;Drawn for my first boss and mentor in the field of science as a farewell/thank you gift. He has a soft spot for everything Japanese so I tried to appeal to that.
Unfortunately the scan I managed to get before I gave it to him was quite horrendous so I needed to tweak it quite a bit digitally before it resembled anything decent. This is my first big attempt with colored pencils and it was as frustrating as it was educational.

Oh wow, this has got to be one of my favorite pieces of yours! I love the detail you carry through the whole piece! I'm working on something similar myself. Will be inking a jungle scene with lots of curving wood and leaf work.

Tree jigsaw! Yay! Gorgeous. Like seriously! I cannot believe you did this with ink and coloured pencils. The detail is superb and it doesn't detract from how lovely it is. I can almost feel the shape of the tree's branches and roots. It's almost as if the tree is saying - 'I know I'm knotty, gnarled, and rough around the edges - but I'm still beautiful baby!' And it is, absolutely. I want to sit on it and watch the sunset.
