Yep, also, I've noticed that these aren't transparent when I tried to overlay this overtop of another sprite; it carries the white background. Do I need to cut around that?

Actually do this: Highlight desired object, copy it, have it set on "Transparent", then paste.

How do I set it to transparent? When I right click, I'm not given that option.

On the top left corner, there's the Select icon, click the small arrow below it, at the bottom of the options list there's Transparent selection.
