that's the way most people do see it. I can see that as well, but I can also see Twilight and Spike having sort of a mother/son relationship at times.

And what's interesting is that it's slightly implied that he feels that he has nowhere else to go, and that his only purpose in life is to assist Twilight in her daily life.
