Description A continuation of my experiments with faces at different angles. Learning a lot committing myself to this task alone. Mainly that the little skills I have gleamed so far from previous pieces is still quite static in that they are usually based off one or more reference image. As far as my technical knowledge of art it seems to be very little. currently practising faces based off of Loomis' technique for drawing faces and tried to employ this to draw my character from multiple angles.
For the life of me I could not manage to draw a profile shot of the character without either buggering up the eye of nose. I did however manage to find a work around so I can create the basis for my characters face at any angle by employing a photo to 3d image online software. I knew of it from general messing about with it in the past and knew it was pretty janky for real pictures but I decided on a whim to try the front facing image of Martin from my previous character sheet piece. The software runs surprisingly better with drawn images as the algorithm seems to have a better time with hard drawn lines rather than the soft lines of an actual photo.
After getting the 3d image I rotated it form as many angles as possible then I took screenshots of the angles opened then as layers in gin and used the htreshold and cartoon filters to bring out the lines. I then found free floating extracted images of hair to match the angles and sized them for various faces for this piece before messing about the results for the second row.
it's not perfect but it is a good compromise between my imagination and the technology of today as it provides me with enough references while I build up more technical skill to draw from these angles naturally.
If anyone else is interested in trying this software out for themselves you can find it through the following link:

I will be trying to get to my fan art challenge for the rest of today but my comps running low on memory and I have no means to fix that for a couple of days so I may be a bit later uploading the finish than I had hoped.
