I never knew how loudly I could scream until I saw the Frag God. When he showed up, we saw how stupid that it was to ever think we had a chance. You could say our futures vanished. We caught the eye of Death, and so we screamed. We threw up all we were, all the histories, the past and all the present and the possibilities. They launched up off our throats so he would grant us mercy, but the fog and silence sucked it up. All that scream evaporated into nothing just like we would. Just as soon as Frag God moved his finger. Our bodies pulled our faces to the dirt, as if to bury us. We were ready. We were set, and then...
We didn't die. The moment passed and we still lived. Then passed another. Then another. We peeked up expectantly, impatiently, like diners waiting for the check. We saw the Frag God. We were stunned.
The dude was blowing bubbles.
