So, why is there a password input field if I choose to register with Facebook Login?

You could also add an OAuth login, for those who don't like non-free social networks like Facebook or Twitter.

You should add the facebook thing to the normal OS, so it can add all you contacts, your profile picture, your name etc!

Please don't do something like this facebook thing, for such a great site like elementaryos.org

I think the registration process is kind of confusing. When I enter a new site, I look for a Register button if I'm not registered already.

You see |Register | Login in|
You shouldn;t have pressed Login then but that button left of it

Oh god. When I clicked the video it started playing a high school musical song. ''Summer'' Either that means Luna comes out summer or it's a hella funny bug

For elementaryos.org
That's just the dev site, the main site will eventually be the same as the dev site.

While it looks great I have to wonder the choice to only support "Log in with Facebook". I mean if it's merely for logging in, then surely you could allow the use of other openID/OAuth providers like f.x. google?

Sure, it's possible other providers could be used. I just chose to show Facebook here because it's the most widely used.

Adding at least Google+ would be a great idea; we've got a big elementary OS user base on Google+.

I think it needs some better spam protection than this checkbox
And if you accidentally type your password wrong, then you have to click "go back" instead of just retyping. But these buttons look good -> everyone will want to click them...

See [link]
Only an incorrect username would throw you to the registration screen, not an incorrect password.

"Spambots canβt check the checkbox because itβs only displayed to users on the client-side."
Now this makes sense, most of spambots don't like JavaScript because it requires extra CPU power. I think spambot would check all the regular checkboxes, because most checkboxes in registration forms are "I accept the terms of service" type.
(And I know regular captchas suck. There are some better ones, like "select image with a cat". But JS checkbox should be enough for now.)
"Only an incorrect username would throw you to the registration screen, not an incorrect password."
Thanks for claryfying

After speaking with out webteam, we decided to go the opposite direction:
Like you said, a spambot will try to check an "accept the terms" box. So we'll have a hidden checkbox that a regular user won't see, but a spambot will.
Yay, internetz!

I'd be careful with doing things like that, users using accessibility software might still see the checkbox, and at the very least be confused.

The checkbox could be bypassed with the help of something like this: [link]

Of course. But most bots are simple and not adjusted to specific websites. And increasing spam protection only makes sense if current protection is not enough. (And I'm sure regular HTML checkbox wouldn't be enough, but JS one may be.)
