Description
With Remembrance Day just a few hours away, I decided that I should do a piece for it.It's all done with felt pens. I tried pointillism for the first time in years. I was going for a sunset, but sunrise works too. Also, the mound at the bottom of the cross is supposed to be an MK II Helmet.
Let me know whether you think the colour tones and texture is well done enough or not.

i like your idea. i would suggest more blendly to add to the smoothness of your picture. your sudden change of colors is distracting. you said that it is a sunset but could be a sunrise as well. there is a big difference in the two. a sunset has much more red than most sunrises. sunrises have much more yellow than most sunsets. notice i said "most". i feel you forgot about shadows. they add depth. i prefer pointalism be done with a pen. though it is harder, yyou can vary the size of your dots with different nibs. it allowes for greater detail and blending. as a caveant to my comments, i have been only moderatly sucessful with this style. i think your picture is great, just not finished.

Very cool take on a style, although I think there is room for improvemenet. The brilliance of point and impressionst kind of styles is the oppertunity to blend colours like crazy, in this artwork you coult take a great deal other colours and blend them in to create depth and form. This image needs shading, and that is fully possible in point artwork. The sunset is behind the cross, so the cross would have a strong shadow shooting in the opposite direction. THe corss would also look very dark against the sun, this could add a lot of emotion to your rememberance image. When painting sunsets, I find looking at a lot of pictures of them first to be of great help in deciding what kind of sunset I want. When blending sky and sun colours, it often takes the full horizon to light up and mix, not just the area around the sun itself. Blue and red rarely sit so close together on the sky. Don't be afraid to look up ref for environments, it can be very helpful.
All in all, I think this is a nice picture with an emotional feeling, your choice of subject has a very clear message to it that anyone can recognise and there is no doubt in what it means, you can make it all more visually pleasing, but it would still be perfect to leave the subject just as it is, but to work more on the style you present it it.

Yes, I do believe that the color tones are blended well for this piece, and the content of it. Honestly, this is the first piece that I have seen with this style, and I adore how it is done. Excellent job!

I love how you used different colors of texture for the dots. I would have used a mixture of yellow and red for the sunset, not blue.
All in one, I would say this is a really nice piece of work.

The pointillism (which can be difficult to pull off) is excellent. You did a great job with that. The only thing that I have to say in way of criticism would be about the sunset. You could make it a little less...round; make it more sporadic.
Other than that, this is excellent!

I think you did a great job! The symbolism is very straight forward and get's right to the point. It evokes a lot of emotion.
For future refrence - and to make the piece that much stronger; think about bunching up a lot of the dots where there should be shadows. It would add a lot of depth. Other than that great job

I like the colours. I like the way that you did this piece, and I think that the rifle and the helmet were immediately distinct to when I was looking at it, I had an idea what I was looking at. The texture is also well done, I like it.

Remembrance day is pretty cool. For your first time in a while, I must say you did pretty good! I like the variety in the points! If anything, I would play with more colour to get a bit more shading in there.

Hi!
First of all, great work with the pointelism. I haven't done one of these in ages and my last attempt was a failure
Oh ya, feedback...
Anyways, I agree with *nikkicub and ~Dizqard that the sunset does look a little too...round. Try adding some randomness
Also, I think it would look much better if there were some orange highlights on the objects in the foreground (and even in the mountains in the background).
Good work!

I absolutely love the texture to this. This must have taken forever to do!

First off, I am AWFUL at pointillism and always have been and always will be, so you gain instant-praise for that Aside from that, almost everything is nicely represented. The only thing that really strikes me as 'off' is the lighter sky around the sun. You go straight from light blue to dark blue, in a perfectly even circle. I know the whole point of pointillism is simplicity, but maybe add a bit more random to the edge of the light.
So yeah, besides that, maybe add more detail to the helmet? You really can't do much more to add to this relatively awesome piece

The pointillism looks good - it can be hard to pull off, but I knew immediately what I was looking at when I saw the thumbnail. I like the textures, particularly how you used concentration of dots to differentiate 'hard' objects like the cross and rifle from 'soft' things like grass. For a sunset, I suggest the red reaching a little higher and fading into progressively darker purples, rather than the blue.
Over all, I like this a lot. Has a nice, contemplative feel.
