Description
This particular shot is of the only two Space Marines I have painted right now. They currently act as test miniatures for the paint-scheme I'm thinking about, which is Regal Blue and Chaos Black, and so far, I really like how they came out. Note that the miniature on the left is one of those standard guys, and it was an attempt to make an uninteresting model actually interesting. As usual, critique allowed.

I like those guys a lot, as you say they seem realistic. However in my opinion a little less dirt would show better the colours of the scheme.
Did you make some kind of conversion to the legs of the marine with power-fist?
keep the good job!

That's actually one of those 'Limited Edition' models GW puts out on their online store every once in awhile.

Not bad, I'd recommend cutting down on the weathering and using a few more highlights.

Yeah. In addition to experimenting with the color concept, it was also a pretty beginning concept of weathering and whatnot. Looking back on it now, I probably should have looked up a tutorial on weathering before just drybrushing dirt-brown everywhere. More Highlight would probably work, though my lighting wasn't exactly agreeing with me that day.

Ah, well for weathering any model try to imagine what that guys been doing, and imagine where it would go naturally.
For example has he been running in grime and mud, kneeling in the dust of a bombed out building, trekking trough the jungles, or maybe he just arrived by drop pod and the only dirt is the stuff that his DP has kicked up?

the dirty armors good, but i'd leave it off normal models if I where you. It'll realy make the sargents, commanders, ect stand out.
Still other than that a bang up job.

I personally hate it when GW makes their models look really bright and cartoonie. I try to make my miniatures and realistic-looking as possible.

I know what yo mean. Like, the highlighting is nice, but i preffer the gritty look. I dont shade much either. I drybrush all my models. It realy helps the look.
