I did this piece after going to see the Hobbit this past weekend. No particular draw for the scene really, just seeing movies like that inspire me to do the canon Zelda pictures I do.
I chose Link in his Magic armor for this piece for a few reasons. The biggest one being that the design of the magic armor is distinctly Hylian, and draws many of the same features as Zelda's armor, making them look more related as characters. Plus, as iconic as the green tunic is, I've never thought it really heroic looking myself.
The title is a bit of a reference to the Dark Knight, specifically the end of the second movie. Interestingly, these combinations of inspirations led me to create what is basically the plot of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, which I hadn't even heard of before, hehe. Kudos to Grace for pointing it out.
Also, I did all the post-work on this one. Go me.

Beautiful work--haven't seen The Hobbit yet (going tonight) but the lighting and setting definitely makes me think of a few scenes in The Fellowship of the Ring (I really need to rewatch that too--and THe Dark Knight

Aoh wow, love the feels I get from this picture. The pose is so sweet and the lighting is just magical! 
At first it doesn't seem like a very protective spot for the sleeping princess, but, knowing the Zelda universe, and Link, I'm sure there are more boundaries here than meet the eye.
