Description Samurize configuration that displays the current temps and a 5-day forecast, with dates, temperatures, high/low, and chance of precipitation.

This makes use of my Tango Weather icon pack, and the icons are included in that download.

I do have a request for those of you who decide to use this...if you see any problems with the icons, such as the wrong icon for a weather condition, please notify me. I want to fix them so that the config and pack are as solid as they can be, and make new icons if need be.

Edit: Was missing files, namely the actual weather icons, the Weather.2004 plugin, and the correct font. Try this version, and please send feedback if it fails to operate correctly. You will need to change the settings in the [link] to point to the correct directory for your weather icons, when you have extracted them.

thanks darkobra, if you're still around.
this is nice and small, with a lot of info (i especially like the vertical bars for rain probability).
yes, these things are becoming seriously retro, but so is my computer... i just don't see why i should buy a new one if i can get everything i need with my 7 year old and well-groomed laptop... and somehow i just like it.
anyway i started ripping apart your config and thanks to your CC license i can upload it again.

i am new to samurize, but i had lenty of time today and ripped your config

I'm very glad that you use it and like it! I think Samurize has been discontinued, and I moved on to Rainmeter for the most part, but I used that samurize config for a long time so to hear the someone else enjoys it is great.

i see. is it true that samurize is much easier on resources compared to rainmeter?
or, is rainmeter heavy on resources?

I cannot tell the difference... which is to say, if there is an appreciable difference, I have not noticed it or felt the need to investigate it.

ugh, dA formatting is terrible...

DefaultLocationID= DAXX0009

...without spaces

Your line should change from this:

[LocationID]
DefaultLocationID=21030

to this:

[LocationID]
DefaultLocationIDAXX0009

Looks like DAXX0009 is what you are looking for. You can obtain this by going to weather.com and searching for your city...still somewhat of a mysterious way of obtaining this info.

Nice config... Just the kind I was looking for. Seems like all the art here in DeviantArt is somehow connected to each other. Hehe.

From which site do I need to grab the location ID, though?

Just tried it, that seems to work, though it did not appear to update the name of the place it was pulling data from, it DID update the weather.

Well, if you are from the USA, it is your ZIP/Postal Code. Elsewhere in the world, this forum post might be of-interest to you: [link] =55390730&ostcount=6

For example, I grabbed this url for Trets, France:
[link]

...and it contains the code: FRXX5483

That might be what you are looking for. I dont know, I am from the USA so it is a bit easier...please let me know what you find!

works fine once the meters are set right. not a bad little setup. could do with a proper preview image though

Glad you like it.

What do you mean by proper preview image?

garbanzox In reply to DarKobra [2008-11-04 16:54:41 +0000 UTC]

well you've just got a little teaser thumbnail, it doesn't really show what the config looks like. show the whole thing so people know what they're downloading

Agreed, but preview images for rar files can only be 150x150.

unless they changed the rules, that's not true. here's a rar with a 1000x1000 preview image:

DarKobra In reply to garbanzox [2008-11-04 22:54:49 +0000 UTC]

Yes I see. I as reading the GIF part, which mandates 150x150. If I have time later I might update the preview. Clearly the small preview didnt stop you from downloading and using it.

This looks very good. Can I have some help with the setup though? I never used Samurize.. I can't get icons to show even though I changed the icons path! What gives? Also where do I change the location? In the [link] file? thanks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarKobra In reply to markoajda [2008-10-14 20:12:37 +0000 UTC]

The setup is a bit complicated. Hang on until later tonight, I had to upload a new version today after finding out that this wasnt working properly out-of-the-box.

Samurize is a pain to get everything setup correctly. Location is indeed changed in the [link] file, which is placed in Samurize\plugins

Icons can be placed in Samurize\Icons\tango.weather

I will try to supply more detailed info later, but this does require some hacking to setup correctly.
