Charcoal on 18" x 24" charcoal paper. Spring 2009This is the third picture I cross hatched. It sure does take forever, although it is also rather relaxing because everything has to come together one line at a time. The image emerges slowly out of the paper.

i like the cross hatching. i usually get bored when i cross hatch so half of a pice is epic, and the other half looks like a blob of squiggles... or its just un finished... lol
but you have inspired me to suck it up try again! it looks so cool with the lines.... I WANNA TRY NOW XD

Try putting on a good music playlist while you work, that helped me a lot. Good luck!

I've never been fond of actually doing cross hatching, even though it always looks nice (this looks awesome! As always! ) But then again, i haven't actually sat down and done it much. Awesome job on this! C:

I never understood it properly, I thought the marks were supposed to be perpendicular to each other all the time. I learned that you're actually supposed to follow the maximum partial derivative. Or something like that.
