Description
I was inspired by thisSee that! See how I cheat......see the tail and it's big point.
What you don't see is the horrid mesh flaw behind it that wouldn't post out so easily and a nightmare to try to reorganize in mesh form. So BAM.
And she's cute too

Words.......just cannot describe the beauty of this piece. I am SERIOUSLY tempted just to hang it all up because YOU are doing what I want to be doing... and I just don't know where to start. This is a masterpiece and it is just an amazing piece as far as coloration, blending, the lighting... *sighs* If only I had this talent.

Thank you. But never quit. I know how you feel because everytime I see painted hair I think the same thing. We just have to keep doing it until we achieve perfection

good image overall, but the realistic quality and detail of the hair is superb.

Wow, that sculpture is very sexy. I think it sums up exactly why the female form is so appealing to me.
Your version is a great looking one in its own right, as well as serving as a fine tribute. She does look VERY erotic displaying herself like that (and girls that are flexible are both incredibly sexy and fascinating). I think Darth Talon deserves another picture of her in some equally flexible display. We all know how she likes to train!
Once again your colours are brilliant. Her skin is equally so. The red stands out so vividly. I like the colour of her eyes too. It looks as if her pupils are almond shaped, like a cat. They look pretty damn cool.
Then you have the sweep of her long black hair. Another great feature of her. You have managed to highlight her hair really well. Black does often end up being a difficult colour to highlight, especially when you have a black background. Highlight it the wrong way and the original and intended black tone gives way to something more grey.
Oh and one last thing. I couldn't help but think that with the way she is spreading like that and the fact that she has that tail, she always has a place to tuck it in, just in case it is in the way.
Ahem.

hehehehehe
I hate working on hair for so many reasons. I guess that's why I keep doing things like twileks. Luckily I found this hair prop that renders very well. I decided to do this as a devil girl because I want to challenge myself to get better at hair. But this almost was a Darth Talon image. The best was to highlight black it seems is to give it a bit of blue highlight hue, it's somehow keeps it looking black.
Of course while making the image I was thinking the same thing about the tail great minds think alike.

Thank you. It was a texture I had that I turned red (any texture would do). Then I used a self illuminating Fresnel outline of yellowish color that would only highlight where the light touched. I could explain exactly how to do it in 3dsMax, but I'm not sure how to do it in others. But basically it is "make the skin illuminate, but only around the edges, and only when light hits those edges." Thats why where shadows get darker the highlights get darker.
Hmmmm, don't know if that made any sense or not, but is that basically what you were wanting to know?

Comic book artist Jack Kirby once started a series called "Kamandi, The Last Boy on Earth". In it there was a character named 'Pretty Pyra'. That was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this.
(I have every copy of that short lived series, but unfortunately, they aren't worth anything.

Ahh interesting, was it a reference to fire?

Yes. Pyra-pyro is a root word. As in Pyromaniac. Like your gal, Pyra was red but also had the power to "flame-on" so to speak.

That's what I thought. That's where I got this name, it's an ancient Greek name for fiery one.
