Description

  Britney waited in the small escape pod for what she thought would be the inevitable sealing of the door and being blasted away from the trembling ship. The alarm bells were still ringing, and the ship shook violently again. She just hoped they would exit hyperspace before it broke up. Else she may be sent far off course from the ejection, and it may be days before the small escape pod dragged itself out of lightspeed and was able to send off its emergency signal.
  How much bad luck was she getting. She only wanted to get a quick ride back to Taranka from Calex without having to take a lot of time going all over place in the universe to get there. She got her uncle to schedule her on a courier ship which was a reliable, fast, and light ship, and this one was going in that direction.
  Another shake of the craft and her helmet snapped shut, she noticed on her suits internal display that all air outside had escaped. Not more troubles. She already had been stuck in this suit for the last 2 days since the craft was only a light haul single compartment ship. With more shaking and sparks now flying she screamed “this is it.” She had this gut feeling that they were still in hyperspace she just prayed that it would stop in time before the pod ejected.
  Another bang and the sound changed, was this it, were they out of hyperspace. She felt another shudder and the lights went out except in the escape pod. Then over the com she heard the pilots voice, “don’t eject, don’t eject come on. Got it.” Things started to quiet down some more. Then the pilot came on, “I got us stopped, help should be on the way maybe a day or two. Just stay in the.” There was a silence and the pod ejected.
  Outside the small viewport she saw herself hurtling away from the courier ship which was venting gas from its two massive nacelles. She also noticed the front of the ship was now flying off as well. There was an explosion with debris flying everywhere for a moment, she just closed her eyes and hoped nothing would hit her.
  A minute later she felt a bump and over the com she heard the pilots voice, “are you okay in there.
Sobbing Brittney answered, “yes I’m here.” She just kept on crying, right now she didn’t care that her tears were now floating inside her helmet.
  The pilot sounding like her nerves were finally starting to break, “good, ah shit, I thought we were a goner for a second there.” Breathing heavy over the com, she said, “now remember to hit the button on your suit for the zero g sickness pill.” Over the com it sounded like she was trying to calm herself down, “They’ll be here in a few days both your pod and my cockpit are sending the emergency signal we’ll be okay.”
  They both waited there, the pilot comforting her over the com until help arrived.
