All the 11 months never warned the old Clydesdale mare what was about to come.

She had been through this many times before, over and over again, but for some reason this time was different.

It took tremendously long. Way too long. She was at her very limit, but she wasn't allowed to give up, nor did she want to.

Two lives were at stake and she wouldn't let all her hard work go to waste. Not at this point!

She pushed on as hard as she could, even if it hurt like it had never before. But she had to do it. She had to, for her still unborn foal.

Finally, the moment of relief! The mare could feel the new life wiggling beside her. Yet another perfect little colt, it seemed. Tiny whinnies echoed in her ears. Her newborn was safe and sound.

Thank goodness...

The newborn opened his eyes and wondered the world around him. What is that great brightness blinding him, and what is this soft surface he was laying on? The curiosity forced the colt to get on his wobbly stick legs. At last he had awakened from his deep slumber and he was more than ready to unravel the secrets of this strange new world! But then he saw his mother, laying on the ground. Motionless.

The colt's instincts told him something was wrong. This isn't how it should have been.

Today should have been the day they started their life together, but instead his mother made a false start to some place where she could never return from.

And his life was just about to begin - alone.

Oh boy, I was pulling my own heart strings while drawing and writing this I never planned Heinonen , my SSO Clydesdale OC, to have such a tragic past but then this idea struck me and I had to make it canon

For short, Heinonen's mother didn't make it after giving birth. Her owner was an irresponsible breeder who pushed their horses to the edge until authorities were contacted. Luckily Heinonen was found in time and they took him and the other horses to the animal shelter. If only they could find an adoptive mother for Heinonen...

Gotta say I'm really happy with how this turned out! Just as atmospheric as I wanted
