How quickly happy skies turned grey. Hope turned to dust. It was meant to be a new beginning but still, the island was dissatisfied. And had taken another friend. News reached him when a seeker arrived to ask about Shardae's disappearance. He wondered if he could've done more. He hoped she was okay. But he couldn't shake the nagging feeling that it was somehow his fault. He barely knew her, but she reminded him of his daughter. And he felt just as powerless now as he had then. The guilt and sadness welled inside his chest; like he was underwater again. Struggling for each breath. Yet the visceral pain would soon fade. As would the guilt in time. And Shardae would still be gone. As would they all. And there was nothing he could do.
