This is 2009's first major case of "what the hell do I name this picture". It's claim pegs. Miners put them on the corners of their little patches of land to keep other miners aware of the fact it's theirs.

I was just talking with Syndyne [link] a few days ago about the fact it's *impossible* to photograph these things in any way that makes them look good, and I continue to believe that's true. This is probably the best I've ever made the damn things look, and it's all due to the worn out yellow paint.

YAY YELLOW PAINT.

I'll never photograph another claim tag again. I promise.
