Description It was dumb luck Janet and Alison found her. Fettered, insensate, but improbably invisible. Sue's abilities only work with mental effort. Asleep or unconscious she's as visually perceivable as anyone else. But now, for some reason, that's no longer the case.

Alison, using infra-red light to guide her, removed Sue's bonds. Commonplace rope plus a wad of cloth stuffed into her mouth and sealed over by tape.  Child's play for Sue and her force field to escape from under normal circumstances.

But, neither Alison nor Janet could revive her.

That's when Janet called Roberta who, in turn, called me. Fortunately their Miss America Foundation is headquartered in the Baxter Building just a few floors below the FF's. I was able to rush over immediately.

I took Sue to our sick bay in hope of finding out what was done to her. Janet is using her connection to the insect world to try and find out if any of them saw what happened. Alison can do nothing but wait helplessly. A situation I've endured before and I'm sure she hates it as much as I did.

Don't worry, my darling. I'll find a way to fix you. And whoever did this will regret it. I promise.

Once again life gets difficult for Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic thanks to those two fiends, and

Reed and Sue (c) Marvel

Goood One
This installment did turn out at all like I was anticipating
 And I really like that
There is nothing better than a good story that surprises  you / goes where you  did not expect
Commenting specifically
Telling the story from Reed's POV was a great  piece of story constriction It really adds a sense of urgency to the  the action which is entirely appropriate and very effective
I also liked the plausibility the story
Everything that happened made sense
Janet and Ali just finding Sue via dumb luck / sheer chance ( Perhaps they heard Sue's unconscious breathing and were drawn to the spot )
Ali' use of infra red light to locate and remove  her friends bonds and gag
( And why  the the crutch rope ?That was a perverse touch that would have taken extra time and effort to apply So  Sue's assailant must have a definite purpose in including it in his captive's rope work  Perhaps he simply wanted to cause outage and discomfort for her rescuers - Out rage  at seeing their friend trussed this was  and - Discomfort a having to get a bit intimate to remove  that particular bit of binding )
Janet calling Roberta made perfect sense
Given that the MAF was an Ad H/ informal  organization it would be unlikely that each member would have every other   member's " who to contact in an emergency " info  and there would be no central registry of such info   And simply going through channels ( eg - phoning Reed ) would have taken too long  they would be likely  have been put on hold  while Reed is located and the caller's identity  and  "BonaFides  are established This would have been terribly frustrating for Ali and Janet  . There friend is in serious trouble Help is literally only a short distance away But they can not access it
And time is surely of the essence
Sue Needs Help NOW
But the M A F has worked with the FEM force in the past and I believe Roberta Strock the  one time commander and still close associate  of that team  would have given each of them  them her personal contact info / number / code /frequency  to ensure that the missions went smoothly and that any complications could be quickly dealt with
( Has a personal aside I postulated and created  just such a set up - CODE BLACK - in my own FEM Force fan Fiction)
So like I said  it would make perfect sense that Janet would call Roberta .And she would alert Reed  ( Roberta in her official capacities  would surely have Reeds personal number
I thought the story  and the picture really caught  Reed's stress and desperation as sets to work to heal his unconscious wife
( As another personal aside I believe Roberta would have made the entire resources of the FEM force available to Reed )
Janet  using her contacts in the insect world  to help figure out what happened i is exactly what she would do ( though the resources of that realm in this place might be "a little thin on the ground ")
Alison's feelings of helplessness at not being  able to do  any thing to help  her friend  are exactly  right That is is exactly what she would be feeling
" All this power and I can do nothing to help Sue . I HATE being this useless I wish I could do something "
This  is great ending to an excellent installment
 Thank you for sharing it

Uhhh "Roberta" is the robot receptionist for the Fantastic Four. And since she probably has a voice recognition program no time was wasted in Jan convincing her who she was. And if anyone, or anything, could reach Mr. Fantastic in an emergency, it would be one of his own inventions.

And granted the insect connection is a longshot. But given the fact Sue was attacked in the Baxter Building, (granted it wasn't the FF part of the building but still), the attacker would take steps to cover his or her tracks. Thus the possible six or eight legged "eyewitness" is a possible option to explore.

I had a choice of either tying up Jan and Ali along with Sue or Reed tending to his afflicted wife. I figured Reed would make a more dramatic entry.

As for the crotch rope. Honestly I really didn't give it much thought except that it would look good against Sue's tight white pants. However IF there was a more sinister motivation behind it then just suppose Sue's attacker had in in for her personally. Not just as a member of the FF but because she did something to him or her that caused a personal desire for vengeance. And just messing up her powers wasn't enough. He or she wanted to add some sort of humiliation as well.

You had Ali pegged perfectly. She wants to help but what can she do? This is beyond her considerable abilities.

Of course Reed will figure out the problem and restore Sue back to normal. Then he, Johnny and Ben, (and probably Sue as well), will go have a clobbering session with the creep responsible. Jan and Ali, respecting that it's an FF problem, and relieved their good friend is okay, will back off and let it remain a family affair. I'm glad you liked the story behind the picture. And I've a feeling you're going to like my next project.

Nice continuation, first he has to figure out what sort of attack it was, physical, pyschic or mystical.  His scanner should be able to do that.
