Description They were given a new mission: to seek out new worlds for Earth to colonize. They knew the area would be filled with Tholians and Gorn. They thought Tholians have ships not much bigger than ten metres. Now they witness the Tholian Superdreadnought.

How big is that dreadnought

Captain Me: As big as my ego is and as confidant as I am in my combat knowhow and how ready the ship is, there are times when starting a fight is just sheer suicide and I'll be giving my life in vain. THIS is one of those times. At the first instance they hint at hostility, we're outta here, pushing our engines beyond their limits if necessary.

Did I do a good job of coming up with words for yourself as captain to say? x3

Well, Captain Metlesits would say something like this: We had our rounds with the Tholians. We know what they are capable of. This is a ship we don't know and I have to admit, I don't like the idea of putting up a fight with it. If they attack, let's hope we can bring them down with us. Vasya, yellow alert. Mr. JimΓ©nez, bring us at a parallel course, on the edge of their weapons' range. Let's see what they'll do.

Is the Tholian ship in front or behind the Polaris. I think its in the foreground, right?

It's almost in the same distance as the Polaris, a bit in the background.

Thank you. I used Genetica to render the texture and touched it a bit up in PS.

Hopefully the Tolians aren't looking for a fight...

Hopefully not. This big ship can kick the Polaris' ass!

Be that as it may, the Polaris would give the Tholian SD one hell of a fight before she died, and, assuming the Tholians keep an eye on Galactic events, the Tholians know it.

Heh. Spock only had to deal with a couple of Runabout-sized Tholians. This thing looks like it comes with the full service package...

davemetlesits In reply to Nuclear-Fridge [2010-08-05 14:14:33 +0000 UTC]

One good thing in it: it's incapable of web spinning.

Nuclear-Fridge In reply to davemetlesits [2010-08-07 21:51:47 +0000 UTC]

But seeing as nobody really knows anything about the Tholians, what tricks does it have to use against Polaris...?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to Nuclear-Fridge [2010-08-07 22:11:08 +0000 UTC]

Overwhelming brute strength. Weapons Starfleet and the First Fleet know nothing of. And numbers, amassing a fleet of these ships in no time. This is Tholian Country!

Nuclear-Fridge In reply to davemetlesits [2010-08-10 18:04:05 +0000 UTC]

Just stay well clear of any derelict ships that are all transparent and glowing a strange colour!

Ain't it wonderful when two sides get to meet and greet over a few phaser banks?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to SlingBlade87 [2010-08-05 14:16:37 +0000 UTC]

This Tholian ship can rip the Polaris apart any day without as much as flexing itself too much. Captain Metlesits has to bee cautious when dealing with the crystallines from now...

I can see that:

Metlesits: Have you seen the great Caparetto singing Lohengrin in the Opera, my friend?

Tholian: Tut-tut, my splendid chap, the opera is for the plebes.

Very well done, as always. I'll bet this is one of those moments when they wish there were a couple of Kzinti aboard.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to Night-Forager [2010-08-04 23:21:48 +0000 UTC]

The Tholians are more dangerous because they are so mysterious. Nobody knows who or what they actually are, what is their spaceflight and weapons capability, so yeah, when you'd expect a small webspinner and you get a ship nearly as big as yours... even Captain Metlesits wants the Cats back...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

WolfKroger [2010-08-04 22:35:24 +0000 UTC]

Now the Polaris won't take any crap from those crazy old Tholians will she?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to WolfKroger [2010-08-04 23:00:16 +0000 UTC]

Hopefully not, but this just isn't the small webspinner ship anymore...

The new "main alien enemy" of the Polaris: the Tholians. Quite interesting, given that I wanted them to be the bad guys for the TOS Polaris, as you can even see it on my first Polaris pic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GregStitz In reply to davemetlesits [2010-08-04 22:05:28 +0000 UTC]

Yea. Te main enemy for my Renegade:
Tos-TMP: Machina
Lost Era-TNG: Mirror Universe
Post-TNG: Yvar, Machina, and Mirror Universe

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to GregStitz [2010-08-04 22:18:20 +0000 UTC]

As for the Polaris:

ENT era: Romulans

TOS era: Kzinti, Section 31

TMP era: Kzinti, Section 31, Tholians

Lost era: probably the Tholians

TNG era: Trelane, Mankind's Bane (a group of Borgs ruled by Trelane, responsible for the Supercube crisis)

Post-TNG era: Starfleet/The Federation (during the Civil War)

The Polaris deals with the most dangerous of them all: evil Humans.

GregStitz In reply to davemetlesits [2010-08-05 03:13:22 +0000 UTC]

True. Hey when you do meshes, do you do Edit Poly or Edit Mesh? I want to know if there was difference between them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to GregStitz [2010-08-05 14:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Edit Mesh in most cases, it's easier for the rendering system but is harder to Smooth and results in more polies. I used Edit Poly with the El-ahrairah, Edit Mesh was unable to smooth the greebles on them properly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GregStitz In reply to davemetlesits [2010-08-05 15:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Hmm.I usually use edit poly.

So the Renegade is more than 1 MIO polies in Editable Poly?
